Analysis of Experimental Research on Cyclones with Cylindrical and Spiral Shells

open access: yesMokslas: Lietuvos Ateitis, 2012
The conducted investigation is aimed at providing information on air flow parameters in the cylindrical and spiral shell (devices are designed for separating solid particles from air flow having tangent flow inlet).

Bound state of dimers on a spherical surface

open access: yes, 2003
The study of particle motion on spherical surfaces is relevant to adsorption on buckyballs and other solid particles. This paper reports results for the binding energy of such dimers, consisting of two light particles (He atoms or hydrogen molecules ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Elasticity-mediated self-organization and colloidal interactions of solid spheres with tangential anchoring in a nematic liquid crystal

open access: yes, 2005
Using laser tweezers and fluorescence confocal polarizing microscopy, we study colloidal interactions of solid microspheres in the nematic bulk caused by elastic distortions around the particles with strong tangential surface anchoring.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Velocity Distributions of Tracer Particles in Thermal Counterflow in Superfluid $^4$He

open access: yes, 2013
Quantum turbulence accompanying thermal counterflow in superfluid $^4$He was recently visualized by the Maryland group, using micron-sized tracer particles of solid hydrogen (J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. {\bf 77}, 111007 (2008)) .
