Alumina Particle Degradation during Solid Particle Impact on Glass

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2000
Particle degradation limits the reuse of powders in industrial powder‐blast processes. In this paper the degradation behavior of Al 2 O 3 powder is studied during erosion of glass substrates.

PARTICLE-SOLID IMPACT PHENOMENA

1962
Abstract : High velocity impact tests were made with high prity aluminum and copper projectiles and targets. Data are presented for impact velocities from 0.762 to 7.62 km/sec, and these are compared with various correlation formulas.

Particle Capture in Solid-State Multipores

ACS Sensors, 2018
Utilization of multiple-channel structure is a promising way of accomplishing high-throughput detections of analytes in solid-state pore sensors. Here we report on systematic investigation of particle capture efficiency in Si3N4 multipore systems of various array configurations.

Solid Particles Falling through Fluids

1984
The forces acting on a sphere falling through a fluid (call it gas for convenience) are as follows: Open image in new window In symbols $$|F| = {m \over {{g_c}}}{{du} \over {dt}} = \left({{\pi \over 6}d_{{\rm{sph}}}^3} \right)\left({|{\rho _s} - {\rho _g}|} \right){g \over {{g_c}}} - |{F_d}|$$ (8.1) where the drag force Open image in new

Particle—particle collisions in liquid—solid and gas—liquid—solid fluidized beds

Chemical Engineering Science, 1993
Abstract A new technique allows for the detection of particle—particle collisions in liquid—solid and gas—liquid—solid fluidized beds from perturbations in the diffusion current of tethered electrodes. A tethered particle, near its anchorage point, can give a good estimate of the collision frequency of a free-floating particle.

Particle Kinetics of Gas-Solid Particle Mixtures

1969
In this thesis the interaction of a normal gas dynamic shock wave with a gas containing a distribution of small solid spherical particles of two distinct radii, σ1 and σ2, is studied (1) to demonstrate that the methods of kinetic theory can be extended to treat solid particle collision phenomena in multidimensional gas-particle flows; (2) to elucidate ...

Solid particle erosion studies using single angular particles

Wear, 1974
Abstract Studies have been made of the oblique impact of individual angular particles on lead and mild steel targets, and the influence of the particle orientation at the point of impact on the subsequent deformation determined. When the angle made by the leading edge of the particle to the surface is small, ploughing deformation can occur, similar ...

FLUIDISATION OF SOLID PARTICLES

1989
A fluidised bed is formed when a gas or liquid passes up through a bed of particles at a rate such that the pressure drop is sufficient to support the weight of the particles. The bed of fluidised particles has many of the properties of an ordinary liquid.
