Investigation on the Gas–Solid Two-Phase Flow in the Interaction between Plane Shock Wave and Quartz Sand Particles

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The interaction between a shock wave and solid particles involves complex gas–solid two-phase flow, which is widely used in industrial processes. Theoretical analysis, an experimental test, and simulation were combined to investigate the interaction ...

Compaction and dilation rate dependence of stresses in gas-fluidized beds

open access: yes, 2006
A particle dynamics-based hybrid model, consisting of monodisperse spherical solid particles and volume-averaged gas hydrodynamics, is used to study traveling planar waves (one-dimensional traveling waves) of voids formed in gas-fluidized beds of narrow ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Fluid/solid transition in a hard-core system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We prove that a system of particles in the plane, interacting only with a certain hard-core constraint, undergoes a fluid/solid phase ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Gas-dust flow separation in a centrifugal inertial dust catcher in terms of ecological-economic approach

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2012
A methodology of designing an ecological-economic high-performance centrifugal inertial dust catcher-classifier is proposed allowing a description of the separation of solid particles from an air flow.

Particle-fluid interactions for flow measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Study has been made of the motion of single particle and of group of particles, emphasizing solid particles in gaseous fluid. Velocities of fluid and particle are compared for several conditions of physical interest.

Colloidal Jamming at Interfaces: a Route to Fluid-bicontinuous Gels

open access: yes, 2005
Colloidal particles or nanoparticles, with equal affinity for two fluids, are known to adsorb irreversibly to the fluid-fluid interface. We present large-scale computer simulations of the demixing of a binary solvent containing such particles.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

On Thermal Vacuum Radiation of Nanoparticles and Their Ensembles

open access: yes, 2013
Radiant emittance of dimers and ensembles of particles consisting of gold, graphite and silica glass nanoparticles in vacuum is studied numerically based on the fluctuation-electromagnetic theory.
