Pioneering the Future: Principles, Advances, and Challenges in Organic Electrodes for Aqueous Ammonium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Leveraging the numerous advantages of ammonium‐ion (NH₄⁺)—including cost‐effectiveness, low corrosiveness, preferential orientation, and rapid diffusion kinetics—aqueous NH₄⁺ batteries (AAIBs) have gained significant attention. This review highlights and evaluates the progress of AAIBs utilizing organic electrode materials such as small molecules ...

Thermal Processing Creates Water‐Stable PEDOT:PSS Films for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Instead of using chemical cross–linkers, it is shown that PEDOT:PSS thin films for bioelectronics become water‐stable after a simple heat treatment. The heat treatment is compatible with a range of rigid and elastomeric substrates and films are stable in vivo for >20 days.

Shape-Memory Solid Polymer Electrolytes

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2021
Stimuli-responsive materials are smart materials capable to adjust their properties (e.g. shape and size) in response to an external or internal stimulus including temperature, light, magnetic field, mechanical stress, and pH. Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are attractive class of stimuli-responsive, programmable smart materials with shape-memory ...

Solid Polymer Electrolytes, 9

Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics, 2004
AbstractSummary: A new hybrid polymer electrolyte system containing polysiloxane and polyether segments has been designed and prepared by epoxide crosslinking. The thermal behavior, structure and ionic conductivity of the hybrid materials were investigated and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), 13C solid‐state NMR spectroscopy ...

Composite Solid Polymer Electrolyte Membrane

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2016
Due to safety issues in the lithium batteries with organic liquid electrolytes, it is expected that the next-generation safe lithium batteries would be the all-solid-state batteries. New solid electrolytes with high Li+ ion conduction such as Li10GeP2S12, Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 and Li7La3Zr2O12 have attracted extensive attentions in the development of

Solid polymer electrolyte water electrolysis

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 1982
Studies have been made on electrocatalysts and their plating methods to solid polymer electrolyte (SPE). Perfluorosulfonic acid polymer membranes (Dupont manufactured Nafion) were used as SPE. Noble metals and their alloys were directly attached to both sides of the membrane without a binder by special metal plating methods developed by the present ...

Polycarbonate‐Based Solid‐Polymer Electrolytes for Solid‐State Sodium Batteries

Small, 2023
AbstractSolid‐polymer electrolytes comprised of polypropylene carbonate (PPC) and varied sodium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (NaFSI) salt concentrations are investigated for implementation as a conductive solid polymer electrolyte into solid‐state cathode composites utilizing a sodium‐layered oxide active material.

Solid Polymer Electrolyte Photovoltaic Cell

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1982
Solid photoelectrochemical cells are described based on PEO-KI/I/sub 2/ electrolytes, n-Si/Pt/PPy photoanodes, and conductive tin-oxide glass counter electrodes. The performance of the present devices is limited by a high series resistance in the polymer film. 22 refs.

Solid polymer electrolytes based on comblike polymers

Journal of Power Sources, 2006
Abstract New comblike polymers such as a homopoloymer (poly-4) of 3,5-bis[poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether (350, n = 7.2)]styrene (4) and an alternating copolymer (poly-4/TCNQ) of 4 with 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) were prepared as a plasticizer for the poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-LiN(CF3SO2)2 electrolyte, and the ionic conductivities ...
