Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Unravel melt pool and bubble dynamics during laser powder bed fusion of polyamides using synchrotron X-ray imaging and process simulation

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping
Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) of Polyamide 12 (PA12) using a near-infra-red (NIR) beam is largely unexplored; therefore, the beam-matter interaction, evolution mechanisms of the melt pool and defects remain unclear. Here, we employed a combination of in

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Direct current plasma spraying of mechanofused alumina-steel particles

open access: yes, 2009
Stainless steel particles (60 $\mu$m in mean diameter) cladded with an alumina shell (2 $\mu$m thick and manufactured by mechanofusion) were sprayed with an Ar-H2 (53-7 slm) d.c. plasma jet (I = 500 A, P = 28 kW, \rho_th = 56 %).

Rheological study of sludge of membranes bioreactors for water treatment: protocol, limitations and link with the filtration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The submerged membranes bio-reactors (sMBR) are more and more visible in the field of waste water treatment. The membrane fouling, that causes a drastic fall of the performances, can be limited by the application of a swarm of bubbles close to the ...

Stimulus-responsive Injectable Polysaccharide Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering Prepared by O/W High Internal Phase Emulsion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis describes work on the development of several novel stimuli-responsive porous hydrogels prepared from oil-in-water (o/w) high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) as injectable scaffolds for soft tissue engineering.
