Séparation solide-solide. / Separation between solids

Sciences Géologiques. Bulletin, 1993
Separation between solids The concept of separation between solids includes two different notions : separation aims at producing several sets based either upon the "size" criterion, or the mineralogical species criterion. A classification according to particle sizes will be carried on in the first case and a concentration in the second one.

Understanding Solid/Solid Organic Reactions

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2001
The concept of an organic reaction between two macroscopic solid particles is investigated. Thus, we study several reactions that have been recently reported to proceed "in the solid phase" and clearly show that, in most cases, grinding the two solid reactants together results in the formation of a liquid phase.

Solid-Solid Interfaces

2011
Abstract This chapter reviews the correlations among adhesion, London dispersive and/or acid-base interactions with emphasis on intermolecular and complex materials, in the field of polymers, fillers, fibers, and pigments. These interactions and phenomena at solid-solid interfaces have received great attention in the field of physical chemistry of ...

Crystalline solids

Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2001
Many drugs exist in the crystalline solid state due to reasons of stability and ease of handling during the various stages of drug development. Crystalline solids can exist in the form of polymorphs, solvates or hydrates. Phase transitions such as polymorph interconversion, desolvation of solvate, formation of hydrate and conversion of crystalline to ...

Hydration solids

Nature, 2023
Hygroscopic biological matter in plants, fungi and bacteria make up a large fraction of Earth's biomass1. Although metabolically inert, these water-responsive materials exchange water with the environment and actuate movement2-5 and have inspired technological uses6,7. Despite the variety in chemical composition, hygroscopic biological materials across

Is Solidity Solid Enough?

2020
We introduce Featherweight Solidity, a calculus formalizing the core features of the Solidity language, thus providing a fundamental step to reason about safety properties of smart contracts’ source code. The formalization includes a static type system that represents the foundation of the Solidity compiler. We show that it prevents some errors whereas

Solid/Solid Adsorption

1985
We have found experimentally that many solids can disperse spontaneously onto supports to form a monolayer or submonolayer. This is a quite widespread phenomenon) which has not been recognized before. We call it solid/solid adsorption. This phenomenom may be attributed to the formation of strong surface bonds between the atoms, ions or molecules of ...

Catalytic growth of nanowires: Vapor–liquid–solid, vapor–solid–solid, solution–liquid–solid and solid–liquid–solid growth

Current Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science, 2006
Catalytic growth is a powerful tool to form a variety of wire (whisker) like structures with diameters ranging from just a few nanometres to the millimetre range. A range of phases (gas, solid, liquid, solution and supercritical fluid) have been used for the feeder phase, i.e. the source of material to be incorporated into the nanowire.

A solid–solid extraction

Powder Technology, 2000
Abstract When a vessel containing two equal-sized particle species is subjected to vibration with an acceleration significantly greater than 1 g , the particle bed sometimes separates into two clear-cut layers, the bottom layer consisting only of the lighter particles. This paper shows that the above inverse density segregation can be used to perform

Solid Tumors

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice, 1985
Soft-tissue tumors are similar in their behavior. Benign tumors can be easily resected in most cases, whereas malignant tumors are relentless in their locally invasive characteristics. A clear understanding of the constraints of the pathologist in reaching a confirmed diagnosis and a logical plan utilizing surgery as the major modality of therapy are ...
