Solid inflation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2013
We develop a cosmological model where primordial inflation is driven by a 'solid', defined as a system of three derivatively coupled scalar fields obeying certain symmetries and spontaneously breaking a certain subgroup of these. The symmetry breaking pattern differs drastically from that of standard inflationary models: time translations are unbroken.

Understanding Solidity: Investigating Knowledge of a Functional Object Property in Brown Capuchin Monkeys (Sapajus apella) and Common Squirrel Monkeys (Saimiri sciureus) [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Behavior and Cognition, 2020
Humans form abstract representations about the physical properties of objects, with very young infants having ‘core knowledge’ about solidity and continuity.

How Effective are Smart Contract Analysis Tools? Evaluating Smart Contract Static Analysis Tools Using Bug Injection

open access: yes, 2020
Security attacks targeting smart contracts have been on the rise, which have led to financial loss and erosion of trust. Therefore, it is important to enable developers to discover security vulnerabilities in smart contracts before deployment.

Hyper-heuristic driven smart contracts for DeFi: a framework for dynamic rule optimization and adaptive executions

open access: yesFrontiers in Blockchain
The static and hard-coded logic of smart contracts in Decentralized Finance (DeFi) platforms significantly limits their adaptability in dynamic and volatile market environments.

A Solidity implementation of TAVS

open access: yesFrontiers in Blockchain, 2023
We present a Solidity smart contract implementation of the TAVS e-voting protocol. The Two Authorities Electronic Voting Scheme (TAVS) is a voting scheme that achieves universal verifiability with a reduced time-complexity both for the elector and the ...

On the structural theory of $\rm II_1$ factors of negatively curved groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Ozawa showed that for any i.c.c., hyperbolic group, the associated group factor is solid. Developing a new approach that combines some methods of Peterson, Ozawa and Popa, and Ozawa, we strengthen this result by showing that these factors are strongly ...

Smart Contract-Based Secure Model for Miner Registration and Block Validation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Rewriting-history attacks can erase all valid records of blockchain-based systems, which is extremely devastating. To deter such attacks, we design a new smart contract-based secure model to make such attacks ineffective.

Perfect Solidity: Natural Laws and the Problem of Matter in Descartes' Universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
In the Principles of Philosophy, Descartes attempts to explicate the well-known phenomena of varying bodily size through an appeal to the concept of "solidity," a notion that roughly corresponds to our present-day concept of density.

Solidity of viscous liquids II: Anisotropic flow events

open access: yes, 1999
Recent findings on the displacements in the surroundings of isotropic flow events in viscous liquids [Phys. Rev. E, to appear Feb. 1999] are generalized to the anisotropic case.

Solidity of viscous liquids. V. Long-wavelength dominance of the dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper is the fifth in a series exploring the physical consequences of the solidity of glass-forming liquids. Paper IV proposed a model where the density field is described by a time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation of the nonconserved type with ...
