Efficient Harvesting of Irregular and Low‐Frequency Mechanical Energy via Hybridized Electromagnetic‐Triboelectric Systems

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable electronics necessitates sustainable power sources to replace the limited electrochemical battery. While mechanical energy harvesting offers a promising solution, traditional harvesters face challenges of irregular and low−frequency environmental sources. This review presents the

Breaking Inversion Symmetry via Vanadium Coordination Engineering in Bismuth Vanadium Selenites

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Vanadium coordination engineering induces symmetry breaking in bismuth selenites by transforming symmetry‐compensated VO6/VO5F units into directionally aligned VO5 polyhedra. The resulting non‐antiparallel vanadyl arrangement eliminates dipole cancellation and stabilizes a polar noncentrosymmetric framework with nonlinear optical activity.

Synergistic Pyroelectric‐Bolometric Coupling in Tellurene Nanowire for Energy‐Efficient Artificial Vision

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Synergistic pyroelectric–bolometric coupling in Tellurene nanowires enables efficient photothermal conversion and self‐driven synaptic functionality. Edge‐induced polarization and temperature‐dependent resistance cooperatively generate enhanced transient responses and multilevel conductance states.

An Outline of a Theory of Play

open access: yesSymbolic Interaction, EarlyView.
Play is often dismissed as trivial, yet it is a fundamental and adaptive aspect of human and mammalian life. This paper develops a sociological theory of play, treating it as a total social fact that spans biological, psychological, and social dimensions.

Nanomaterials‐Decorated Biomass‐Derived Carbon for Overall Water Splitting: Interfacial Engineering, Mechanistic Insights, and Device Translation

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Biomass‐derived carbon provides a sustainable, porous, and conductive scaffold that stabilizes nanomaterials for bifunctional hydrogen evolution reaction/oxygen evolution reaction catalysis. This review summarizes design strategies (defects, heteroatom doping, heterostructures, single atoms), mechanistic/density functional theory insights, degradation ...
