The set of equations is obtained that describes the nonlinear three-dimensional dynamics of magnetosonic waves. Plane solitary waves propagating at a small angle to the guiding magnetic field have been studied. Three-dimensional spatially localized waves have been qualitatively studied.

The modified Korteweg - de Vries equation in the theory of large - amplitude internal waves [PDF]
The propagation of large- amplitude internal waves in the ocean is studied here for the case when the nonlinear effects are of cubic order, leading to the modified Korteweg - de Vries equation.

Solitary waves observed in the auroral zone: the Cluster multi-spacecraft perspective [PDF]
We report on recent measurements of solitary waves made by the Wideband Plasma Wave Receiver located on each of the four Cluster spacecraft at 4.5-6.5RE (well above the auroral acceleration region) as they cross field lines that map to the auroral zones.

Research Progress on Mechanical Characteristics of Vertical Cylinders under Internal Solitary Waves
Internal solitary waves represent a common physical phenomenon in water bodies such as oceans, coasts, and estuaries. They are induced by external disturbances on a pycnocline in a stably stratified water body, and the shear flow excited during their ...

Anomalous width variation of rarefactive ion acoustic solitary waves in the context of auroral plasmas [PDF]
The presence of dynamic, large amplitude solitary waves in the auroral regions of space is well known. Since their velocities are of the order of the ion acoustic speed, they may well be considered as being generated from the nonlinear evolution of ion ...

New Types of Nonlinear Waves and Bifurcation Phenomena in Schamel-Korteweg-de Vries Equation
We study the nonlinear waves described by Schamel-Korteweg-de Vries equation ut+au1/2+buux+δuxxx=0. Two new types of nonlinear waves called compacton-like waves and kink-like waves are displayed.
