The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Solubility of Sterigmatocystin
Abstract The solubility of sterigmatocystin, a carcinogenic and toxic mycotoxin, was determined in 48 solvents. The results indicated that with few exceptions, it is relatively insoluble in most solvents tested. There seemed to be no correlation between the solubility of sterigmatocystin and the dipole moments, dielectric constants, or ...

Solubility of Tannins and Preparation of Oil-Soluble Derivatives
Tannins are plant defense substances that exhibit a strong astringent taste and precipitate proteins, leading to the inhibition of protein functions; however, owing to their relatively low toxicity, tannins must be accumulated in high concentrations in cell vacuoles. Therefore, the solubility of tannins is crucial for their functions.

The Solubilities and the Solubility Parameter of Heptasulfur Imide [PDF]
Abstract The solubilities of heptasulfur imide in eleven organic solvents were measured. The solubility parameter of heptasulfur imide was estimated to be 12.7 at 25 °C from the solubilities and the activity deduded from the enthalpy of the fusion; we assumed the solutions to be regular.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Further considerations to improve the druggability of biaryl hydroxy-triazole and fluorene-triazole hybrids [PDF]
Buarque et al. (Explor Drug Sci. 2025;3:1008107. DOI: 10.37349/eds.2025.1008107) reported the synthesis of 13 biaryl hydroxy-1,2,3-triazoles and 11 fluorene-1,2,3-triazole hybrids via optimized Suzuki and telescopic one-pot reactions.
