Nucleotidyl cyclase activity of recombinant soluble guanylyl cyclase [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Pharmacology, 2009
The ubiquitously expressed soluble guanylyl cyclase(sGC) converts guanosine 5'-triphosphate (GTP) to gua-nosine 3':5'-cyclic monophosphate (cGMP). The het-erodimeric protein is activated by nitric oxide (NO). sGCplays a key role in the regulation of vascular tone and neu-rotransmission.

Mapping Soluble Guanylyl Cyclase and Protein Disulfide Isomerase Regions of Interaction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) is a heterodimeric nitric oxide (NO) receptor that produces cyclic GMP. This signaling mechanism is a key component in the cardiovascular system.

Soluble guanylyl cyclases in Caenorhabditis elegans: NO is not the answer [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 1999
Guanylyl cyclases (GCs), the enzymes that synthesize cyclic GMP (cGMP), have classically been divided into two groups: receptor GCs and soluble GCs. Receptor GCs are integral membrane proteins such as the retinal guanylyl cyclases and the atrial natriuretic peptide receptors.

Binding of regulatory subunits of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase to cyclic CMP agarose. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The bacterial adenylyl cyclase toxins CyaA from Bordetella pertussis and edema factor from Bacillus anthracis as well as soluble guanylyl cyclase α(1)β(1) synthesize the cyclic pyrimidine nucleotide cCMP.

Natriuretic peptides relax human intrarenal arteries through natriuretic peptide receptor type‐A recapitulated by soluble guanylyl cyclase agonists

open access: yesActa Physiologica, 2020
Natriuretic peptides, BNP and ANP increase renal blood flow in experimental animals. The signalling pathway in human kidney vasculature is unknown. It was hypothesized that BNP and ANP cause endothelium‐independent relaxation of human intrarenal arteries

Guanylyl cyclase activation reverses resistive breathing–induced lung injury and inflammation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Inspiratory resistive breathing (RB), encountered in obstructive lung diseases, induces lung injury. The soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC)/cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) pathway is down-regulated in chronic and acute animal models of RB, such as ...

Stimulation of soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) by riociguat attenuates heart failure and pathological cardiac remodelling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, 2020
Heart failure is associated with an impaired NO–soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC)–cGMP pathway and its augmentation is thought to be beneficial for its therapy.

Newly identified NO-sensor guanylyl cyclase/connexin 43 association is involved in cardiac electrical function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Guanylyl cyclase, a heme-containing alpha 1 beta 1 heterodimer (GC1), produces cGMP in response to Nitric oxide (NO) stimulation. The NO-GC1-cGMP pathway negatively regulates cardiomyocyte contractility and protects against cardiac ...

Receptor guanylyl cyclase (RGC) family in GtoPdb v.2023.1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The mammalian genome encodes seven guanylyl cyclases, GC-A to GC-G, that are homodimeric transmembrane receptors activated by a diverse range of endogenous ligands.

Platelet hyperaggregability in high-fat fed rats: A role for intraplatelet reactive-oxygen species production

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology, 2012
Background Adiposity greatly increases the risk of atherothrombotic events, a pathological condition where a chronic state of oxidative stress is reported to play a major role.
