Bio‐Inspired Oligocellulose‐Regulated Ice‐Water Interfaces Enable Sustained Ion Transport in Frozen Aqueous Zinc Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by antifreeze glycoproteins (AFGPs), we synthesized a type of oligomeric cellulose (OC‐8) to inhibit ice formation and enlarge the inter‐ice water channel for transportation. Typical confocal fluorescence experiments display the expansion of the ice‐water interface for zinc‐ion transport.

THSD7A Exacerbates Atherosclerosis via Activation of Signaling Axis αvβ3/CEBPD/IL1A

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
THSD7A exerts pro‐inflammatory effects and exacerbates atherosclerosis. Mechanistically, THSD7A regulates endothelial cell inflammation and atherosclerosis by activating the αvβ3/CEBPD/IL1A signaling axis. THSD7A is not only a genetic marker but also a potential therapeutic target for coronary artery disease (CAD).

Fiji's Sugar Woes: The Challenge of the Land Tenure System, Ethnicity and the Erosion of EU Sugar Preferences [PDF]

open access: yes
The non-renewal of land leases since 1997 and the impending withdrawal of the European Union's sugar preferences in 2007 have created major uncertainties in Fiji's sugar industry.

Robots and Minimal, Physics‐Informed Features: A Hybrid Framework for Enzyme Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Robotic experimentation and physics‐informed machine learning combine to predict enzyme substrate scope. With a handful of interpretable features derived from docking and quantum mechanics calculations, our model rivals descriptor‐heavy AI approaches and extrapolates to unseen substrates and enzyme classes.

IMPACT OF AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY IN THE EUROPEAN UNION'S SUGAR INDUSTRY [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop a welfare framework, which explicitly recognizes that research protected by intellectual property rights generates monopoly profits. The result is a simulation model, shaped to the European sugar sector, and enabling to assess the size and ...

Carbohydrate‐Mediated Cellular Uptake of Boronic Acid Hybrids In Cellulo and Insulin‐Deficient Zebrafish: Live Imaging and Application of Multiphoton FLIM

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Boronic acid‐based fluorescent hybrids have been used as part of a versatile platform for real‐time metabolic bioimaging across cellular and organismal scales. Including glucose‐responsive imaging in living cells and in an insulin‐deficient vertebrate model, this work opens new opportunities for the development of precision diagnostics, metabolic ...
