Targeting the CD47–SIRPα phagocytic checkpoint in cancer: Biology, translational opportunities, and next‐generation therapeutic strategies

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
The CD47–SIRPα axis has emerged as a critical innate immune checkpoint that suppresses macrophage‐mediated phagocytosis through a canonical “don't eat me” signal and enables tumor immune evasion. We comprehensively summarize the structural and biological features of CD47 and the molecular mechanisms underlying CD47‐mediated regulation of phagocytosis ...

Diagnostic value of serum soluble suppression of tumorigenicity 2 in patients with heart failure in different types of heart diseases

open access: yesZhongguo linchuang yanjiu
Objective To observe the changes of soluble growth stimulation expression gene 2 (sST2) level in patients with heart failure in different types of heart diseases, and analyze the diagnostic value of sST2 in heart failure. Methods A total of 74 patients

Biomarkers to predict outcomes in diabetic foot ulcers

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Studies attempting to predict the healing outcome of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) have investigated various biological materials and recovered molecules that may aid in discriminating wounds that will heal and those that will not heal. This graphical abstract captures the commonly studied classes of biomarkers in the context of DFUs.

IgE‐Binding Bacterial Components Not Yet Documented in the Allergen Databases and Their Allergenic Mechanisms: An EAACI Position Paper

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Among bacteria that are associated with the development and/or exacerbation of allergic/atopic diseases, several have been described to produce IgE‐binding components. However, only one bacterial protein, Bac s 1, is currently listed in the official database of the World Health Organization/International Union of Immunological Societies (WHO ...

Soluble ST2 as a Marker of Subclinical Right Ventricular Dysfunction in Pulmonary Hypertension Associated With Congenital Heart Disease

open access: yesMajalah Kardiologi Indonesia
Background: Congenital Heart Disease with Pulmonary Hypertension (CHD-PH) increases Right Ventricular (RV) afterload, which may lead to subclinical myocardial impairment before overt systolic dysfunction becomes apparent.

Cancer pain: current practice and emerging targets

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cancer pain (CP) arises from a complex interplay between the tumour and its microenvironment. Many patients experience a mixed pain phenotype that encompasses nociceptive, neuropathic and neuroinflammatory mechanisms, and vary across tumour type and disease stage. Despite decades of intensive research, the mainstay of cancer pain treatment is still non‐

Prognostic value of soluble ST2 in cardiac magnetic resonance defined myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundCardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) plays an essential role in identifying the underlying etiology of myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA). However, risk stratification in patients with CMR-confirmed MINOCA remains

Targeted Photo‐Induced Elimination of Tumor‐Associated Macrophages Suppresses Cancer Progression in a Murine Model

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the selective depletion of tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) by targeting CSF1R through near‐infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR‐PIT). Using a combination of anti‐CSF1R Fab‐IR700 conjugates and localized light irradiation, we achieved tumor suppression and durable antitumor immunity without systemic toxicity.

Use of Soluble Suppression of Tumorigenicity 2 for Predicting the Need for Intubation and Mortality Outcomes in Patients with COVID-19

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Infection, Microbes and Antimicrobials
Introduction: Suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) plays a key role in the serious complications that may occur during Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), including systemic inflammatory condition, sepsis, Acute respiratory distress syndrome, and ...
