Harnessing bacterial extracellular vesicles for bone and cartilage organoids

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review presents bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) as programmable bioactive regulators for bone and cartilage organoids by delivering functional cargos that modulate skeletal remodeling. It highlights key engineering strategies and future directions to advance next‐generation organoid models for bone aging related diseases.

Soluble transferrin receptor and soluble transferrin receptor/log ferritin index in coronavirus disease 2019

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Haematology
Background The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic impacted a huge number of people worldwide, with high morbidity and mortality. Consistent findings indicated a potential role of iron parameters, hyperferritinemia, and ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of multiorgan failure, and it might serve as a new treatment target.

Transforming Growth Factor‐β (TGF‐β)–Dependent Iron Homeostasis and Altered TGF‐β Responsiveness in FLVCR1‐Deficient CD4 T Cells

open access: yesBarrier Immunity, EarlyView.
Negative feedback resulting from continuous TGFβRI expression in FLVCR1‐deficient CD4 T cells. Unlike in normal CD4 T cells, TGF‐βRI is not degraded upon activation in FLVCR1‐deficient CD4 T cells. Sustained receptor expression results in increased TGF‐β, leading to dysregulated iron homeostasis, impaired cell proliferation, and enhanced cell death ...
