Acid, silver, and solvent-free gold-catalyzed hydrophenoxylation of internal alkynes

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
A range of arylgold compounds have been synthesized and investigated as single-component catalysts for the hydrophenoxylation of unactivated internal alkynes.

Green synthesis and crystal structure of 3-(benzothiazol-2-yl)thiophene

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2017
The title compound, C11H7NS2, was prepared in high yield (87%) using a solvent-free microwave-assisted synthesis. The structure shows whole-molecule disorder with occupancies for two orientations (A and B) of 0.4884 (10) and 0.5116 (10), respectively ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Zirconium Dodecylphosphonate: Selective and Constructive Catalyst for Preparation of 2-Alkyl Benzoxazoles from Aliphatic Carboxylic Acids [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2017
In this study, zirconium dodecylphosphonate was synthesized by the reported method in scientific literature. 2-Alkylbenzoxazoles were prepared from aliphatic carboxylic acids and 2-aminophenol in the presence of this catalyst under solvent-free ...

Mechanochemistry of supramolecules

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
The urge to use alternative energy sources has gained significant attention in the eye of chemists in recent years. Solution-based traditional syntheses are extremely useful, although they are often associated with certain disadvantages like generation ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Solvent-Free Coumarin Synthesis

open access: yesChemistry Letters, 2001
Abstract The synthesis of coumarins via Pechmann and Knoevenagel condensation reactions under solvent-free conditions is reported, in which waste minimization, simple operation and easier product work-up can be achieved.
