Powder Injection Molding: A Comparison of Two Debinding Procedures Based on Solvent Extraction

Materials Science Forum, 1998
As-injected Fe-2%Ni samples with a binder containing 3.3 wt.% polypropylene (PP), 2.8 wt.% paraffin wax (PW) and 1.7 wt.% ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA) were subjected to a two step debinding process, i.e., chemical (solvent) combined with thermal extraction.

Ceramic injection moulding: influence of specimen dimensions and temperature on solvent debinding kinetics

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2005
Abstract Ceramic injection moulding (CIM) has been the process selected for the production of complex ceramic components in recent years. In this process, binder removal is one of the most critical steps due to the possible appearance of defects. In this study, the influence of specimen geometry and temperature on the solvent debinding step of an as ...

Effect of solvent debinding variables on the shape maintenance of green molded bodies

Journal of Materials Science, 2004
In order to study the effect of solvent extraction debinding variables on the shape maintenance of green molded bodies, powder compression molded bodies (the feed) were debound in various organic solvents such as n-hexane, n-heptane and isooctane at various extraction temperatures ranging from 30 to 60°C.

Debinding Rate Enhancement of 17-4 Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel Solvent Debinding on Metal Injection Molding Process as the Material for Orthodontic Bracket

Materials Science Forum, 2018
Brackets fabrication should be done by a suitable process to produce great result. Processes commonly used are investment casting, machining, and metal injection molding. Investment Casting has a drawback in which the surface roughness is quite high for the standard of brackets and require further processing. Machining is done by removing unwanted part

A Study on the Optimization of Solvent Debinding Process for Powder Injection Molded 316L Stainless Steel Parts

Advanced Materials Research, 2016
Optimization of solvent debinding process parameters for powder injection molded 316L stainless steel (SS) has been reported in this research work. Powder gas atomized (PGA) 316L SS was blended with a multicomponent binder in Z-blade mixer at 170°C ± 5°C for 90 minutes. Feedstock was successfully injected at temperature 170 ± 5°C.
