Absorption-assisted pervaporation for solvent dehydration
Desalination, 2002A novel process configuration for pervaporation and vapor permeation is presented. In this process the permeation driving force is realized by absorbing the permeate vapor into a suitable solution with a very low vapor pressure. The refrigeration needed for condensation in the conventional process can be overcome and cost savings could be achieved ...

Solvent Dehydration and Separation of Native Asphalt
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 2001A combined process for dehydration, deasphalting, and acetone fractionation of Ashal'chinsk native asphalt was developed and investigated. Technology was proposed for combined solvent preparation and separation of natural asphalt and the basic characteristics of the process were determined.

Solvent‐Free Thermal Dehydration of Pentitols on Zeolites
Journal of Carbohydrate Chemistry, 2004Abstract Dehydration of D‐arabinitol, ribitol, and xylitol at high temperature in the presence of molecular sieves without solvent in an argon atmosphere is described. Products arising after the dehydration–cyclization (cyclodehydration) reaction with retention or inversion of the configuration of asymmetric carbon atoms, were observed.

Solvent Dehydrated Costal Cartilage: Evaluation in a Rabbit Model
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2005An experimental study has been performed on 30 New Zealand rabbits to compare autogenous cartilage harvested from the rabbits' auricles, bone graft harvested from the iliac crest of the rabbits, and the commercially available solvent dehydrated human costal cartilage (SDHCC) grafts, each measuring 1 x 1 cm.

Module arrangement for solvent dehydration with silica membranes
Desalination, 2004Abstract This simulation study investigated the influence of operating parameters and module and system design on performance and cost of pervaporation modules. It was based on isopropanol dewatering measurements with silica membranes and different types of methods to calculate heat and mass transfer resistance. It was shown that conventional modules

Development of soft-sensor for solvent dehydration tower
Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. No.04EX788), 2004A soft-sensor using measurement of temperature distribution along the column to predict the compositions of the distillate and bottom products of the solvent dehydration tower is developed. With the distributed control system and offline measurement of the compositions, a recursive least-squares method is proposed to automatically correlate the ...

Revision Myringoplasty with Solvent‐Dehydrated Human Dura Mater (Tutoplast)
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2001OBJECTIVESSeveral grafting materials have been used in the reconstruction of the perforations of the tympanic membrane. The use of dehydrated dura homografts as a substitute for the tympanic membrane has not been fully documented. On the other hand, revision surgery is more critical in terms of patients' expectations.

Breakthrough in pervaporation membrane for dehydration of solvent streams [PDF]
After several years of development, researchers at the Universities of Twente and Amsterdam and the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands have succeeded in obtaining a membrane system which is hydrothermally stable under semi-industrial dehydrating conditions at elevated tempreature.
