Epsomite as flame retardant treatment for wood: Preliminary study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The effect of epsomite as flame retardant for wood has been investigated and compared with a commercial boron salt. Both flame retardants have been introduced into wood samples by vacuum impregnation.

Catalytic Transformation of Fructose and Sucrose to HMF with Proline-Derived Ionic Liquids under Mild Conditions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2014
L-Proline derived ionic liquids (ILs) used as both solvent and catalyst were efficient for transformation of fructose and sucrose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in the presence of water.

Enhanced Furfural Production in Deep Eutectic Solvents Comprising Alkali Metal Halides as Additives

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
The addition of alkali metal halide salts to acidic deep eutectic solvents is here reported as an effective way of boosting xylan conversion into furfural.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A More Sustainable Isocyanide Synthesis from N-Substituted Formamides Using Phosphorus Oxychloride in the Presence of Triethylamine as Solvent

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
A simple, green, and highly efficient protocol for the synthesis of isocyanides is described. The reaction involves dehydration of formamides with phosphorus oxychloride in the presence of triethylamine as solvent at 0 °C.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Conversion of N‐Acetylglucosamine to 3‐Acetamido‐5‐Acetylfuran over Al‐Exchanged Montmorillonite

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2023
3‐Acetamido‐5‐acetylfuran (3A5AF) is a potential platform compound for the production of nitrogen‐containing pharmaceuticals and chemicals. 3A5AF can be obtained by dehydration of chitin or its monomer, N‐acetylglucosamine (NAG).

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Iodine-catalyzed Transformation of Aryl-substituted Alcohols under Solvent-free and highly concentrated Reaction Conditions

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2017
Iodine-catalyzed transformations of alcohols under solvent-free reaction conditions (SFRC) and under highly concentrated reaction conditions (HCRC) in the presence of various solvents were studied in order to gain insight into the behavior of the ...
