Effect of Solvent on Tetrazolium Reaction
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1976The rate of color development of a tetrazolium formazan is shown to be inversely proportional to the dielectric constant of the solvent medium and directly proportional to the hydrogen-bonding capability of solvent mixtures having the same dielectric constant.

The solvent effect on the α-effect
J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun., 1986The reaction of p-nitrophenyl acetate with butane-2,3-dione monoximate anion as the α-nucleophile, compared with p-chlorophenoxide ion as the normal nucleophile, exhibits a maximum in rate enhancement (‘α-effect’) in dimethyl sulphoxide–water mixtures as the medium composition is varied.

Solvent effects in anion recognition
Nature Reviews ChemistryAnion recognition is pertinent to a range of environmental, medicinal and industrial applications. Recent progress in the field has relied on advances in synthetic host design to afford a broad range of potent recognition motifs and novel supramolecular structures capable of effective binding both in solution and at derived molecular films.

PHYSIOLOGIC EFFECTS OF INDUSTRIAL SOLVENTS
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1949A glance at the stock shelves of any neighborhood store, even in a small town, shows that chemicals are playing an increasingly important part in our daily life. The grocer sells synthetic detergents; the hardware store, paints, laquers, paint and stain removers; the drugstore, insecticide sprays; the corner gasoline station offers window cleaners and ...

Solvent and vehicle effects on the skin
2007The effects of solvents and vehicles on the skin are important since skin is the largest organ of the human body and provides protection against the external environment. In addition, the skin enables us to maintain a state of homeostasis. However, skin and its barrier properties may be altered when exposed to various chemical agents.
