Intron‐oriented HTLV‐1 integration in an adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma cell line sustains expression of intact ift81 mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In the adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) cell line ED, the human T‐cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV‐1) provirus was integrated into the intron of the ift81 gene in the antisense orientation. Despite this integration, both the intact ift81 and the viral oncogene hbz were simultaneously expressed, likely due to the functional insufficiency of viral ...

Kinetics and thermodynamics of cottonseed oil extraction

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2011
Petroleum derived n-hexane is commercially used in solvent extraction plants due to its higher extraction efficiency in spite of the fact that it is graded as highly toxic and hazardous.

Method of infusion extraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Apparatus and method of removing desirable constituents from an infusible material by infusion extraction, where a piston operating in a first chamber draws a solvent into the first chamber where it may be heated, and then moves the heated solvent into a

Ultrasound Assisted Extraction of capsaicinoids from peppers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The development of a rapid, reproducible and simple method of extraction of the majority capsaicinoids (nordihydrocapsaicin, capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin, homocapsaicin and homodihydrocapsaicin) present in hot peppers by the employment of ultrasound ...

TRAF2 binds to TIFA via a novel motif and contributes to its autophagic degradation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
TRAF family members couple receptor signalling complexes to downstream outputs, but how they interact with these complexes is not always clear. Here, we show that during ADP‐heptose signalling, TRAF2 binding to TIFA requires two short sequence motifs in the C‐terminal tail of TIFA, which are distinct from the TRAF6 binding motif.

Extraction Methods and an Investigation of Drosophila Lipids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1959
In earlier work (8) we extracted lipids from dried, macerated Drosophila melanogaster with ether, but later, working with larger quantities of undried flies, we found that most of the phospholipids were autolyzed.

Optimization of pressurized liquid extraction using a multivariate chemometric approach and comparison of solid phase extraction cleanup steps for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in mosses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A factorial design was used to optimize the extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from mosses, plants used as biomonitors of air pollution.
