Optimizing the process of supercritical extraction of lemon balm (Melissa Officinalis L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This work investigates the process of extraction of lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.) by treatment with carbon dioxide at supercritical conditions. The process kinetics is studied at different operational conditions, and the influence of some important

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Effects of Solvent/Solid Ratio and Temperature on the Kinetics of Vitamin C Extraction from Musa Acuminata

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science & Process Engineering, 2015
This work studied on the kinetics of Vitamin C extraction from banana peel at different solvent/solid concentration and temperature. Musa Acuminata was ground into smaller sizes before contacted with methanol as a solvent in an ultrasonic bath.

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive

Uncertainty-Informed Screening for Safer Solvents Used in the Synthesis of Perovskite via Language Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The challenge of accurately predicting toxicity of industrial solvents used in perovskite synthesis is a necessary undertaking but is limited by a lack of a targeted and structured toxicity data. This paper presents a novel framework that combines an automated data extraction using language models, and an uncertainty-informed prediction model to fill ...

Purification tags markedly affect self‐aggregation of CPEB3

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although recombinant proteins are used to study protein aggregation in vitro, uncleaved tags can interfere with accurate interpretation. Our findings demonstrate that His₆‐GFP and His₁₂ tags significantly affect liquid droplet and amyloid fibril formation in the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of mouse cytoplasmic polyadenylation element‐binding ...

Microwave-Assisted Extraction of Essential Oil from Eucalyptus: Study of the Effects of Operating Conditions

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering Research, 2006
Classical extraction of essential oil such as Soxhlet and steam distillation is still a formidable and time-solvent consuming. Microwave assisted process (MAP) is used to accelerate the extraction process of target compounds.

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.
