We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Continuous liquid–liquid extraction to recover lignin and furanics from lactic acid:Choline chloride deep eutectic solvent after cooking of spruce [PDF]
Lactic acid: choline chloride mixed in a 10:1 ratio is known to be a suitable delignification solvent. This deep eutectic solvent (DES) can produce lignin and hemicellulose derivatives as byproducts to cellulose.

Automated Microsolvation for Minimum Energy Path Construction in Solution [PDF]
Describing chemical reactions in solution on a molecular level is a challenging task due to the high mobility of weakly interacting solvent molecules which requires configurational sampling. For instance, polar and protic solvents can interact strongly with solutes and may interfere in reactions.

The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

The solvent extraction is a potential choice to recover asphalt from unconventional oil ores
The abundant unconventional oil ores (about 70% of total world oil) are playing an increasingly important role in global energy supply. To obtain asphalt in unconventional oil ores, different methods, including hot water-based extraction, pyrolysis and ...

Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.
