Coarse mineral-associated organic matter is a pivotal fraction for SOM formation and is sensitive to the quality of organic inputs

, 2020
Recent models of soil organic matter (SOM) formation propose that the coarse mineral-associated fraction (coarse-MAOM) could be a pivotal fraction bridging the gap between fresh organic matter inputs and stabilized, mineral-associated SOM.

SOM-RPM for the accurate visualization of high-dimensional hyperspectral data.

Analytical Chemistry, 2020
We present an optimization of the toroidal self-organizing map (SOM) algorithm for the accurate visualization of hyperspectral data. This represents a significant advance from our previous work, in which we demonstrated the use of toroidal SOMs for the ...

AW-SOM, an Algorithm for High-Speed Learning in Hardware Self-Organizing Maps

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems - II - Express Briefs, 2020
Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) represent one of the most used clustering algorithms. A strong limitation in hardware SOM implementations is the decrease in processing speed when the number of neurons and features increase.

Interactive priming effect of labile carbon and crop residues on SOM depends on residue decomposition stage: Three-source partitioning to evaluate mechanisms

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 2018
Inputs of crop residues and labile C (e.g. root exudates) can affect the decomposition rate of soil organic matter (SOM) through the priming effect (PE).

Dominant extracellular enzymes in priming of SOM decomposition depend on temperature

Geoderma, 2019
Decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM) is operated by microbial extracellular enzymes and is dependent on temperature. It remains unclear how input of labile organics interacts with temperature on SOM decomposition.

SOM’s mathematics

Neural Networks, 2006
Since the discovery of the SOM's by T. Kohonen, many results that provide a better description of their behaviour have been found. Most of them are very convincing, but from a mathematical point of view, only a few are actually proved. In this paper, we make a review of some results that are still to be proved and give some framework to formulate ...

SOM

Proceedings of the 2003 ACM symposium on Applied computing - SAC '03, 2003
In each Canadian province, hospitals collect information, at discharge, on the hospital stay of each patient. The information is collected in the form of a patient discharge abstract (PDA) and sent to the Canadian Institute for Health Information. The Patient Discharge Abstract uses the ICD-10-CA code standard to outline the assigned diagnoses for the ...

The T-SOM (Tree-SOM)

1997
I introduce the T-SOM, an unsupervised neural network model based on well-known Kohonen Self-Organizing Maps. This model adds to SOM-properties the next new characteristics : a multiresolution knowledge representation, a low complexity algorithm and a simplified learning parameters tuning.
