Significance Spontaneous accumulation of somatic DNA mutations has been hypothesized as a cause of both cancer and aging. However, detecting mutations in normal, noncancer cells is challenging, because mutations accumulate independently in each cell ...

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Fluorescence microscopy methods for the determination of somatic cell count in raw cow's milk
The direct fluorescence microscopy method with ethidium bromide staining can be used for somatic cell counting in raw cow's milk. However, this method has some limitations that may influence the results of the analysis.

Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

The human brain through the lens of somatic mosaicism
Every cell in the human brain possesses a unique genome that is the product of the accumulation of somatic mutations starting from the first postzygotic cell division and continuing throughout life. Somatic mosaicism in the human brain has been the focus

The Genetics of Somatic Mammalian Cells, [PDF]
New quantitative techniques have been described for rapid plating of isolated single cells from a wide variety of human tissues under conditions such that almost every cell produces a macroscopic colony. These methods make possible new kinds of studies of the growth and genetics of mammalian cells.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...
