Cell transformation in tumor-development: a result of accumulation of Misrepairs of DNA through many generations of cells [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Development of a tumor is known to be a result of accumulation of DNA changes in somatic cells. However, the processes of how DNA changes are produced and how they accumulate in somatic cells are not clear. DNA changes include two types: point DNA mutations and chromosome changes.

Somatic cell haploidization: an update

open access: yesReproductive BioMedicine Online, 2003
Oocyte donation is the only method of treating female sterility caused by complete absence of oocytes, with the loss of genetic motherhood. Genetic fatherhood of males with complete absence of spermatozoa can only be restored by assisted reproduction treatment if sperm precursor cells belonging to the male germline can still be recovered from the ...

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

Mitochondrial Dynamics: In Cell Reprogramming as It Is in Cancer

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2017
Somatic cells can be reprogrammed into a pluripotent cellular state similar to that of embryonic stem cells. Given the significant physiological differences between the somatic and pluripotent cells, cell reprogramming is associated with a profound ...

Reversal of informational entropy and the acquisition of germ-like immortality by somatic cells [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
We live within an increasingly technological, information-laden environment for the first time in human evolution. This subjects us, and will continue to subject us in an accelerating fashion, to an unremitting exposure to meaningful information that requires action.

On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Milk yield and quality at udder quarter level are influenced by quarter position, pathogen, and somatic cell score

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science
There is a paucity of information about milk composition and quality at the quarter level from complete milking of the udder, mainly because of the difficulties of sampling procedures which imply the adoption of a vacuum system connected to four ...

Genetic parameters between somatic cell score and production traits for Holstein cattle in Southern Brazil

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Ciencias Pecuarias, 2020
Background: Somatic cell score is an important parameter to predict milk quality and health of cows. However, in countries like Brazil, this trait is still not selected on a large scale, and no genetic parameters are reported in the literature. Objective:

Scale-free dynamics of somatic adaptability in immune system [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
The long-time dynamics of somatic adaptability in immune system is simulated by a simple physical model. The immune system described by the model exhibits a scale free behavior as is observed in living systems. The balance between the positive and negative feedbacks of the model leads to a robust immune system where the positive one corresponds to the ...

Cell Division, Differentiation and Dynamic Clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A novel mechanism for cell differentiation is proposed, based on the dynamic clustering in a globally coupled chaotic system. A simple model with metabolic reaction, active transport of chemicals from media, and cell division is found to show three successive stages with the growth of the number of cells; coherent growth, dynamic clustering, and fixed ...
