Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Effect of voltage dynamics on response properties in a model of sensory hair cell [PDF]
Sensory hair cells in auditory and vestibular organs rely on active mechanisms to achieve high sensitivity and frequency selectivity. Recent experimental studies have documented self-sustained oscillations in hair cells of lower vertebrates on two distinct levels. First, the hair bundle can undergo spontaneous mechanical oscillations.

Mastitis is one of the most costly diseases in dairy cows worldwide. Increased somatic cell count (SCC) is an indication of mastitis, often subclinical, which implies bacterial infection without clinical signs of inflammation.

Ontario Bulk Milk Somatic Cell Count Reduction Program. 2. Dynamics of Bulk Milk Somatic Cell Counts
The objective of this study was to study the dynamics of bulk milk SCC in order to assist the individual farmer and the dairy industry to lower farm and population SCC. Data on milk quality, milk components, and kilograms of milk produced were collected monthly from January 1985 through September 1991 on approximately 9500 farms in the province of ...

Buffalo milk: proteins electrophoretic profile and somatic cell count
Water buffalo milk differs from the cow’s milk for greater fat and protein content, very important features in cheese making. Proteins, casein and whey-proteins in particular, are the most important factors determining cheese yield.

Association of anatomical characteristics of teats with quarter-level somatic cell count.
Mastitis occurs after bacteria successfully traverse the teat orifice and cause an intramammary infection. Anatomical characteristics of the teat are potential risk factors for infection. The objective of this study was to identify potential associations

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Cytospin Centrifuge in Differential Counts of Milk Somatic Cells
A procedure was developed for a cytospin centrifuge to concentrate cells from milk onto microscope slides in a circle with 6 mm diameter. Differential somatic cell counts with cytospin were compared to the conventional hand smearing technique to ascertain variation in differential counts.

Vergelijking van twee California Mastitis Testen met de elektronische celgetalbepaling voor de detectie van intramammaire infecties in mengmelkstalen van melkvee [PDF]
In dairy cattle, the milk somatic cell count is the most widely accepted indicator for the presence of intramammary infections. The aim of this study was to compare the results of the electronic cell counting on 179 composite milk samples with the ...

Learning Embeddings from Cancer Mutation Sets for Classification Tasks [PDF]
Analysis of somatic mutation profiles from cancer patients is essential in the development of cancer research. However, the low frequency of most mutations and the varying rates of mutations across patients makes the data extremely challenging to statistically analyze as well as difficult to use in classification problems, for clustering, visualization
