Production of goats by somatic cell nuclear transfer

Nature Biotechnology, 1999
In this study, we demonstrate the production of transgenic goats by nuclear transfer of fetal somatic cells. Donor karyoplasts were obtained from a primary fetal somatic cell line derived from a 40-day transgenic female fetus produced by artificial insemination of a nontransgenic adult female with semen from a transgenic male.

Procedures for Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer in the Rat

2009
Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) is a powerful tool for the investigation of the mechanisms of nuclear remodeling. In addition, SCNT may offer the possibility of introducing targeted mutations by homologous recombination in species for which ES cell technology is not available.

Animal Cloning by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer

2009
Animal cloning is becoming increasingly useful for its applications in biological inquiry and for its potential use in pharmaceutical, medical, and agricultural fields. Due to the complexity of the numerous steps required in reconstructing oocytes by nuclear transfer, detailed protocols are required to minimize the developmental damages inflicted ...

Progress in Human Somatic-Cell Nuclear Transfer

New England Journal of Medicine, 2005
The efficiency of deriving blastocysts through the nuclear transfer of embryonic stem cells has been improved by a factor of more than 14.

Method for somatic cell nuclear transfer in zebrafish

2016
This chapter presents a detailed methodology for somatic cell nuclear transfer-cloning of zebrafish. We aim to place the reader in a virtual lab experience to assist acquisition of the technical skills required for reproducing the published protocol.

Method for Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer in Zebrafish

2011
Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) has been a well-known technique for decades and widely applied to generate identical animals, including ones with genetic alterations. The system has been demonstrated successfully in zebrafish. The elaborated requirements of SCNT, however, limit reproducibility of the established model to a few groups in zebrafish ...

A New, Dynamic Era for Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer?

Trends in Biotechnology, 2016
Cloning animals by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) has remained an uncontrollable process for many years. High rates of embryonic losses, stillbirths, and postnatal mortality have been typical outcomes. These developmental problems arise from abnormal genomic reprogramming: the capacity of the oocyte to reset the differentiated memory of a somatic

Improvement of canine somatic cell nuclear transfer procedure

Theriogenology, 2008
The purpose of the present study on canine somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) was to evaluate the effects of fusion strength, type of activation, culture media and site of transfer on developmental potential of SCNT embryos. We also examined the potential of enucleated bovine oocytes to serve as cytoplast recipients of canine somatic cells.

Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer in Zebrafish

2014
The use of Zebrafish as a model-organism is growing exponentially. Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer could potentially enhance the way gene modifications are done and facilitate the selection and preservation of specific strains and mutant lines. However, since first reported in 2002, SCNT failed to be implemented widely.

Criminal Law in the Regulation of Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer

The American Journal of Bioethics, 2007
Many legislative justifications for legal prohibitions of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) depend on putative moral considerations that are said to warrant limits on the use and commercializati...
