Genetic correlations among somatic cell scores, productive life, and type traits from the United States and udder health measures from Denmark and Sweden [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Sire genetic evaluations for protein yield, somatic cell score (SCS), productive life, and udder type traits from the US were correlated with sire evaluations for udder health from Denmark and Sweden and then the correlations were adjusted for accuracies

The effects of preclinical vascular and autonomous reactivity disturbances on physical workability in young men with atherosclerotic risk factors

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал, 2007
Physical efficiency was studied in 142 male students with risk factors of atherosclerosis who had endothelial dysfunction and disturbed vegetative reactivity.

ATZ‐1 promotes DNA replication efficiency to maintain normal meiotic function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Absence of ATZ‐1 interferes with meiotic DNA replication and cell cycle function via CHK‐1. This causes downstream defects associated with DNA damage and genomic integrity. Taken together, this study suggests that ATZ‐1 influences DNA replication efficiency and cell cycle function to maintain normal meiotic function.

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Cow, farm, and herd management factors in the dry period associated with raised somatic cell counts in early lactation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This study investigated cow characteristics, farm facilities, and herd management strategies during the dry period to examine their joint influence on somatic cell counts (SCC) in early lactation.

KDAC6 alters cell morphology and motility through positive and negative modulation of F‐actin distribution

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KDAC6 has been associated with cell motility and actin structures, but specific domain contributions are not established. The two catalytic domains have differential effects on motility and F‐actin regulation, affecting cortical F‐actin density, motility, stress fibers, and cell spreading.

Effects of Somatic Dysfunction on Leg Length and Weight Bearing

open access: yes, 2014
Context — Somatic dysfunction of the pelvis, sacrum and lumbar spine are common and have been associated with leg length discrepancies; however, it is unclear which specific pelvic, sacral and lumbar spine somatic dysfunctions lead to mild changes in leg
