Evaluation of Intraoperative Somatosensory Evoked Potentials During Spine Surgery for Scoliosis

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences
Background: In scoliosis surgery, intraoperative somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) monitoring has reduced the incidence of postoperative neurologic deficits.

Topographic distribution of the tibial somatosensory evoked potential using coherence

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2008
The objective of the present study was to determine the adequate cortical regions based on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) recording.

Status epilepticus: Updates on mechanisms and treatments

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Status epilepticus (SE) consists of prolonged, self‐sustaining seizures and is a common neurological emergency that causes respiratory compromise and neuronal injury. Without prompt treatment, the seizures can become resistant to benzodiazepines, leading to the progressive evolution of established, refractory, and super‐refractory SE.

Neurophysiological correlates of visually induced motion sickness severity: A scoping review of the impact of experimental settings on EEG spectral power

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes EEG findings from 28 VIMS studies across four inducing scenarios (abstract cues, virtual videos, vehicle driving, and game scenes) and two display types (HMD and monitor). While Delta/Theta enhancement consistently reflects sensory conflict, Alpha activity shows context dependency: predominantly increasing during passive viewing

Can trigeminal sensations impact saltiness perception? A mini‐review

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Many food companies have begun to reduce the salt content in their products due to health concerns; however, this reduction in salt content can affect the food's sensory appeal and flavour complexity. Flavour is defined as a combination of odour (i.e., smell), taste (i.e., gustation) and trigeminal sensations (i.e., chemesthesis).

Neuromuscular Effects of Acute Organophosphate Poisoning

open access: yesÇukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dergisi, 2014
Purpose: The knowledge about neuromuscular effects of organophosphate poisoning depends on limited publications and case reports. In this study, we aimed to determine the neuromuscular effects of organophosphate poisoning and the influence of these ...

EEG Signal Processing and Classification for the Novel Tactile-Force Brain-Computer Interface Paradigm

open access: yes, 2013
The presented study explores the extent to which tactile-force stimulus delivered to a hand holding a joystick can serve as a platform for a brain computer interface (BCI). The four pressure directions are used to evoke tactile brain potential responses,
