The Analgesic Enhancing Effects of Coupling M1 and PMC rTMS on Neuropathic Pain After Spinal Cord Injury: An fNIRS Study

open access: yesPain Research and Management, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) of the left primary motor cortex (M1) shows promise for treating neuropathic pain (NP) after spinal cord injury (SCI), but its efficacy remains limited. This study investigated whether combining rTMS on M1 with premotor cortex (PMC) could improve pain relief in SCI patients with NP ...

Adenosine Monophosphate Improves Lipolysis in Obese Mice by Reducing DNA Methylation via ADORA2A Activation by Ecto‐5′‐Nucleotidase (CD73)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 14, April 10, 2025.
In this study, the improvement effect of AMP on obesity can be attributed to the conversion of extracellular AMP to ADO through ADORA2A activation by CD73, which can promote lipolysis by reducing DNA methylation level and enhancing HSL gene transcription. These findings show the great potential of AMP in improving obesity.

Surfing the T Wave: A Primer on ECG T Wave Morphologies Encountered in Clinical Trials and Impact on the QT Interval and Patient Safety

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 18, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation and measurement is an essential aspect of patient safety and pharmacovigilance in clinical trials. Changes in the T wave segment of an ECG can provide both diagnostic and prognostic information and may be affected by a variety of intrinsic and extrinsic factors related to drug administration.

Mate assessment based on physical characteristics: a review and reflection

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 1, Page 113-130, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Mate choice, and sex differences in romantic behaviours, represented one of the first major applications of evolutionary biology to human behaviour. This paper reviews Darwinian approaches to heterosexual mate assessment based on physical characteristics, placing the literature in its historical context (1871–1979), before turning ...
