Hunting Active Sites for CO Oxidation on CO‐covered Pd(100) With Bat Vision Ambient Pressure X‐ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
To selectively detect minority sites and measure their catalytic properties is challenging. As the bat uses the echo of insects to locate them in darkness, we here demonstrate that the echo‐signal of small temperature modulations applied to a catalyst can be used to reveal minority sites.

Virtual Elastic Tether: A New Approach for Multi‐Agent Navigation in Confined Aquatic Environments

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 5, Page 3332-3350, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Underwater navigation is a challenging area in the field of mobile robotics due to inherent constraints in self‐localization and communication in underwater environments. Some of these challenges can be mitigated by using collaborative multi‐agent teams.

Control System for the Navigation of the Agricultural Robots: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 5, Page 3474-3505, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Control systems for the navigation of autonomous agricultural robots—particularly those operating in uneven terrain and in the presence of static or dynamic obstacles—have advanced considerably in recent years. As conventional machinery evolves toward increasingly automated systems, the design of reliable navigation controllers has become ...

Advancement of Peptide‐PAINT: Applications and Current Challenges in Super‐Resolution Imaging

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
Peptide‐PAINT is rapidly emerging as a powerful single‐molecule super‐resolution imaging platform, enabling molecular visualization with ~5–10 nm localization precision. This review critically discusses its underlying principles, recent biological applications, technological limitations, and key challenges, while benchmarking its strengths and ...

Bathymetry Prediction With SWOT Gravity Anomaly Using Machine Learning Methods: Paper 1–Model Development

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Only one quarter of the global ocean floor has been directly surveyed; the remaining three quarters are inferred from satellite altimeter‐derived gravity data using techniques developed in the 1990s. These classical methods correlate gravity anomalies with known depths and extrapolate bathymetry in unsounded regions.

Robust Regional Contrast but Penetration‐Sensitive Snow Thickness Over Sea Ice From Multi‐Winter Antarctic CRYO2ICE Observations

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Snow on Antarctic sea ice modulates albedo, thermodynamic growth, and snow–ice formation, yet remains a leading uncertainty in altimetry‐derived sea‐ice thickness. Here we use the post‐2022 CRYO2ICE configuration to derive along‐track winter snow thickness from ICESat‐2 laser and CryoSat‐2 Ku‐band radar freeboards over the Weddell and Ross ...
