Deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and improved YOLOv9 for efficient benthos detection: a case study at Lake Hamana, Japan

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study presents a UAV‐based framework that integrates deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and an enhanced YOLO detector to improve centimetre‐scale benthic organism monitoring. Using hermit crabs in Lake Hamana, a coastal lagoon in Japan, as a case study, the method substantially enhanced small‐object detection performance ...

Use of Multibeam and Dual-Beam Sonar Systems to Observe Cavitating Flow Produced by Ferryboats: In a Marine Renewable Energy Perspective

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2017
With the prospect to deploy hydrokinetic energy converters in areas with heavy boat traffic, a study was conducted to observe and assess the depth range of cavitating flow produced by ferryboats in narrow channels.

Scalable low‐cost seabed landers: the missing link for sustained, integrated, long‐term observations in dynamic shallow seas

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Seabed landers, when equipped with a range of biotic and abiotic sensors, offer a non‐invasive and cost‐effective solution for ecosystem‐scale monitoring of Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) and Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) in dynamic shallow seas.

Method for environmental protection of fish from going into water discharge facilities [PDF]

open access: yesCaspian Journal of Environmental Sciences
Spillway structures of hydroelectric power plants, dams, and other large hydroelectric facilities are characterized by high volumes of discharged water. Moreover, the discharge can also go in a volley way - when a large volume of water mass is passed in ...

SONAR IN EARLY PREGNANCY [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Perinatal Medicine, 1981
Prior to the existence of sonar techniques there was no method to proof the existence of a l iving fetus early in pregnancy. Hormon assays such as human chorionic gondotropin, human placental lactogen oestriol and pregnandiol could offer only indirect informations relating to the trophoblast and corpus luteum function. Concerning the fetus there was no

The Nexus Between Circular Economy and Sustainable Supply Chain Management: PRISMA Methodology

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The intersection of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) and circular economy (CE) has attracted increasing academic and practical attention, emphasizing the need for integrated sustainability approaches. This study employs the PRISMA protocol and conceptualizes the CE–SSCM relationship as a dynamic system in which internal capabilities,

Methods for separating the noise produced by the wheels and track during a train pass-by

open access: yesRailway Engineering Science
Rolling noise is produced by vibration of the wheels and track, induced by their combined surface roughness. It is important to know the relative contributions of the different sources, as this affects noise control strategies as well as acceptance ...

On Correlating Sonar Images

open access: yesRobotics: Science and Systems I, 2005
This paper demonstrates that sonar images correlate badly because target geometry and image fringes correlate in different coordinate systems. It is shown that if the receiver is a line array, all point objects have the same image in a coordinate system with axes of range and the sine of target bearing (the (r, s) coordinate system).
