Non-Hermitian topological states in 2D line-graph lattices: evolving triple exceptional points on reciprocal line graphs

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2021
Non-Hermitian (NH) topological states, such as the doubly-degenerate nodes dubbed as exceptional points (EPs) in Bloch band structure of 2D lattices driven by gain and loss, have attracted much recent interest.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Complex-Eigenfrequency Band Structure of Viscoelastic Phononic Crystals

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The consideration of material losses in phononic crystals leads naturally to the introduction of complex valued eigenwavevectors or eigenfrequencies representing the attenuation of elastic waves in space or in time, respectively.

High Temperature Ultrasonic Transducers: A Review

open access: yesSensors, 2021
There are many fields such as online monitoring of manufacturing processes, non-destructive testing in nuclear plants, or corrosion rate monitoring techniques of steel pipes in which measurements must be performed at elevated temperatures.

Transparent Deformable Thin Film Electric Heater for Stable and Accurate Control of High Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Au/GaOx‐based transparent heaters combine high optical transmittance and low sheet resistance with exceptional thermal stability up to 521°C for over 6 h. The interfacial GaOx layer suppresses dewetting of Au and enhances adhesion, ensuring mechanical robustness during deformation and reliability for real‐world applications including grilling ...

Propagation of Intense Acoustic Waves in Sonic Crystals

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2015
[EN] The propagation of intense acoustic waves in a periodic medium (sonic crystal) is numerically studied. The medium consists in a structured fluid, formed by a periodic array of fluid layers with alternating linear acoustic properties and quadratic nonlinearity coefficient.
