Hydrotalcite as sorbent for trinitrophenol: Sorption capacity and mechanism
Water Research, 1996The aim of this work was to evaluate the sorbent power of hydrotalcite compound [Mg3Al(OH)8]2CO3·xH 2O (HT) and its calcined product Mg3AlO4(OH) (HT500) for 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) from water solution. The adsorption behaviour of TNP was investigated at diverse solid/solution ratios, pH and TNP concentration by batch equilibration technique.

Evaluation of CO2 adsorption capacity of solid sorbents
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2011The CO2 adsorption capacity of the low-cost solid sorbents of waste tire char (TC) and chicken waste char (CW) was compared with commercial active carbon (AC) and 5 A zeolite (ZA) using thermogravimetric analysis (TG), pressurized TG, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

Calculation of the dynamic sorbent capacity in the presence of two sorbates
Journal of Water Process Engineering, 2017Abstract The aim of this work is to develop a method for calculating the dynamic capacity of the sorbent and the relative sorption capacity of two sorbates simultaneously present in the solution, at any time from the beginning of the process. Experimental data are an illustration of the possibility of this method, applicable to any sorbates and ...

A very interesting possibility of coal combustion ashes reutilization is their use as adsorbent materials, that can also take advantage from proper beneficiation techniques. In this work, adsorption of cadmium from aqueous solutions was taken into consideration, with the emphasis on the intertwining among waste properties, beneficiation treatments ...

Carboxylate-functionalized organic nanocrystals for high-capacity uranium sorbents
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2019Carboxylate-functionalized organic nanocrystals (ONCs) derived from perylene diimide or naphthalene diimide were synthesized and carefully characterized as novel high-capacity uranium (U(VI)) sorbents. Adsorption studies using uranyl ions demonstrated that the carboxyl and hydroxyl groups on the surface of the ONCs play pivotal roles in U(VI ...

Ionosilicas as efficient sorbents for anionic contaminants: Radiolytic stability and ion capacity
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2016Ammonium based hybrid ionosilicas were prepared from tetrasilylated ammonium precursors. The formed material exhibited high specific surface area together with mesoporosity. Our results indicate that ionosilicas display high exchange capacity for iodide. They were submitted to 10MeV electron irradiation at a total dose of 1.7MGy.

Zirconium organophosphonates as high capacity, selective lanthanide sorbents
Separation and Purification Technology, 2014Abstract Novel and versatile zirconium organophosphonate coordination networks have been developed as sorbent platforms via simple, low-temperature hydrothermal reactions of zirconium propoxide with amino tris(methylene phosphonic acid) (ATMP).

Contaminant Sorbent Aggregation Index based on Cadmium Sorption Capacity
Soil and Sediment Contamination, 2008Mixture rules that enable the estimation of the characteristics of composite mixtures using data on the characteristics of their components are useful in reducing the frequency and cost of material testing for construction quality assurance prediction of barriers in waste containment systems.

On the trapping of SOx on CaO–Al2O3-based novel high capacity sorbents
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2006Calcium-aluminum mixed oxide based materials doped with Na and Mn were explored as sulfur trapping materials. The materials showed a three times higher total storage capacity and a higher time on stream with complete SO2 removal compared to a second generation SOx trapping material which was mesoporous with calcium mainly present in oxidic form ...
