Sorbitol MacConkey agar and wastewaters` coliphages [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Water and Wastewater, 2023
A total of 114 samples collected from hospital wastewaters and rivers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia were tested for non-sorbitol fermenting bacteria and coliphages. Sorbitol MacConkey agar is mainly used in the detection of E. coli O157:H7.

Genome-wide identification and comparative evolutionary analysis of sorbitol metabolism pathway genes in four Rosaceae species and three model plants

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2022
In contrast to most land plant species, sorbitol, instead of sucrose, is the major photosynthetic product in many Rosaceae species. It has been well illustrated that three key functional genes encoding sorbitol-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (S6PDH), sorbitol

Spraying sorbitol-chelated calcium affected foliar calcium absorption and promoted the yield of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
The prevalent use of foliar calcium fertilizers in peanut production is inorganic, but calcium absorbed from the foliar has poor availability. Sorbitol-chelated calcium is a novel organic foliar calcium fertilizer that has rarely been studied for ...

Colon Necrosis Due to Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate with and without Sorbitol: An Experimental Study in Rats. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Based on a single rat study by Lillemoe et al, the consensus has been formed to implicate sorbitol rather than sodium polystyrene sulfonate (SPS) as the culprit for colon necrosis in humans treated with SPS and sorbitol.

An engineered non-oxidative glycolytic bypass based on Calvin-cycle enzymes enables anaerobic co-fermentation of glucose and sorbitol by Saccharomyces cerevisiae

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels and Bioproducts, 2022
Background Saccharomyces cerevisiae is intensively used for industrial ethanol production. Its native fermentation pathway enables a maximum product yield of 2 mol of ethanol per mole of glucose. Based on conservation laws, supply of additional electrons

Exogenous Sorbitol Application Confers Drought Tolerance to Maize Seedlings through Up-Regulating Antioxidant System and Endogenous Sorbitol Biosynthesis

open access: yesPlants, 2023
This study aims to explore the impacts of exogenous sorbitol on maize seedlings under polyethylene glycol (PEG)-simulated drought stress. Six treatments were set: normal condition (CK), PEG (P), 10 mM sorbitol (10S), PEG plus 10 mM sorbitol (10SP), 100 ...

Pilot determination of reference intervals for sorbitol in cattle [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
A pilot study was conducted to determine reference intervals for sorbitol in cattle. The study determined the level of sorbitol in the urine of cattle. It was found that the endogenous concentration of sorbitol in animals to which it was not administered

Effects of Chitosan on the Characteristics of Sorbitol Plasticised Cellulose Acetate/Starch Bioplastics

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2023
Due to the natural origins of its primary components, such as plant fibers, bioplastics are materials that disintegrate quickly. Typically, plasticizers are used to create cellulose-based bioplastics.

Influence of ultrasound on sorbitol release by Zymomonas mobilis grown on high sucrose concentration

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2006
This work investigated the effect of applying low intensity ultrasound on sorbitol release by Z.mobilis cultures grown on 200 g/L sucrose medium up to 48 h. The best sorbitol production was 36.09 g/L in 36 h culture.
