Efficient Direct Recycling of Spent Batteries: Integrated Lithiation and Delamination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated process for the delamination and relithiation of spent cathodes, LixNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 and LixFePO4, under open‐air conditions is proposed. The transition‐metal (Ni) oxidation state in the cathode is reduced by the oxidation of diethylene glycol, facilitating relithiation. Glycol aldehyde formation induces 100% electrode delamination.

Multiparametric MRI with MR elastography findings in patients with sinusoidal obstruction syndrome after oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy

open access: yesInsights into Imaging, 2022
Objective To evaluate the magnetic resonance elastography (MRE)-derived liver stiffness measurement (LSM), T1 and T2 relaxation times, and hepatobiliary phase images in patients, who developed sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS) after oxaliplatin-based

So FCR, so good [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2015
In this issue of Blood, Rossi et al show that certain predictive biomarkers are able to identify a subgroup of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) who have an exceptionally good outcome following front-line therapy with the combination of fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and rituximab (FCR).

Engineering Strategies to Suppress Thermal Runaway Propagation in Lithium‐Ion Battery: Mechanisms, Metrics, Materials, and Evaluation Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thermal runaway propagation can transform a single‐cell failure into a system‐level hazard in lithium‐ion battery packs. This review clarifies how heat transfer, gas venting, combustion, and configuration govern cell‐to‐cell failure, and links measurable metrics, pathway‐oriented suppression materials, and experimental/modeling tools to guide safer ...

Effect of Snow Cover on Detecting Spring Phenology from Satellite-Derived Vegetation Indices in Alpine Grasslands

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The accurate estimation of phenological metrics from satellite data, especially the start of season (SOS), is of great significance to enhance our understanding of trends in vegetation phenology under climate change at regional or global scales. However,

High‐Density E. Coli Cultivation Arrays for Combinatorial Drug Testing With Subsequent Lipid Profiling by MALDI‐MS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput antibiotic cross‐gradient assays on microdroplet arrays. A multichannel printhead together with five pressure regulators forms droplet arrays of up to 20 832 droplets within 25 minutes. Each droplet contains unique concentrations of antibiotics, allowing to moniture a vast spectrum of bacterial repsonses over night. The bacterial growth

Determinants of neonatal near miss among newborns admitted to SOS Mother & Child Hospital, Benadir region, Somalia: a case-control study

open access: yesMaternal Health, Neonatology and Perinatology
Background While the birth of a newborn is often a moment of great joy, it can be overshadowed by life-threatening complications that endanger survival in the early days of life. Neonatal near-miss (NNM) cases are infants who survive severe complications,

Metal Battery Anode: Rich in Electrons, Rich in Problems: A Critical Review from Industrial Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metal‐anode batteries using Li, Na, Mg, and Ca offer exceptionally high energy density, but dendrites, unstable interphases, cracking, and pore formation hinder durability and safety. This review shows how careful electrolyte and interphase design can stabilize these reactive metals.
