Sound insulation performance of prefabricated cabins in cruise ships
Noise Control Engineering Journal, 2012In this paper, sound insulation performance of a prefabricated cabin mock-up is studied. The cabin mock-up consists of two identical rooms whose partition, ceiling, and side walls are sandwich panels composed of thin metal sheets and mineral wools. The floor is a steel plate with stiffeners, and plate thickness is 6 mm.

Low impact renovations with high performance sound insulation
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005Architectural renovations, although often driven by visual objectives, are a good opportunity to pursue acoustical interventions involving both sound intrusions into a space, and sound quality of the acoustic environment within the space. A high priority is to keep the construction impact low as it affects both project cost and schedule.

Changes in Floor Impact Sound Insulation Performance with Time
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015Floating floor structures installed with resilient materials are commonly used to reduce sound from floor impacts. Resilient materials minimize the transmission of vibrations by absorbing shock vibrations occurring on the upper part. The floor impact sound reduction performance of resilient materials is related to the dynamic stiffness, which is a ...

Research on the Insulation Performance of Sound-Isolating and Decoupled Tiles
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The acoustic performance of sound-isolating and decoupled tiles is studied from macroscopic and microscopic. First, the sound absorption and reverse sound insulation performance of sound-isolating and decoupled tiles is studied based on laminated media; then the acoustic decoupling materials influence on acoustic radiation of double cylindrical shell ...

Sound Insulation Performances of Linters Made of Textile Waste
Journal of Fashion Technology & Textile Engineering, 2015From the beginning of the 20th century, the use of insulation materials has become a necessity and the production of appropriate materials for insulation is of great importance. Although most insulation materials are produced from inorganic materials, recently, some of these materials have been prohibited due to their suspected health risks.

A study on the improvement of sound insulation performance of aluminum chassis
INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference ProceedingsIn recent years, the automobile industry has rapidly shifted towards electric vehicles, with an increasing number of vehicles using aluminum instead of steel for a significant portion or the entire or part of the vehicle body. Aluminum body panels reduce sound insulation performance compared to steel panels because they depend on surface density. This

The sound insulation performance of mass timber building elements
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2018Mass timber constructions have been gaining popularity in Canada since provincial building codes were changed to allow for taller buildings of mass timber elements. Common mass timber elements include cross-laminated timber, nail-laminated timber, dowel-laminated timber, and glued laminated timber.

Impact sound insulation performance of mass timber floors
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of AmericaMass timber floors are being used increasingly in both mass timber and hybrid timber buildings due to its dry and rapid construction. Bare mass timber structural slabs have relatively low impact sound insulation performance. Though certain floating floor assemblies on mass timber slabs can provide adequate single number ratings, such assemblies are ...
