Sound-source localization when listeners and/or sound sources move
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2021In the dynamic everyday world, sound sources and/or listeners move when animals attempt to localize sound sources. Determining sound-source locations in these dynamic scenarios requires several computations by the brain. The auditory-spatial cues (Interaural Time Differences, ITDs; Interaural Level Differences, ITDS; and spectral cues associated with ...

This paper description Sound Source Localization problem. At present, Sound Source Localization is a developing sector in the measurement of acoustic signals. The aim of this sector is to locate the source of the acoustic signal and to evaluate the angle and distance between the sources of the measuring system.

Probabilistic sound source localization
2007 International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems, 2007Sound localization is one of ways that keep the relation with robot. Time delay of arrival (TDOA) between two microphones through cross-correlation method has been used for sound localization in our robot platforms. However, since cross-correlation values are highly dependent on the upcoming sound signal and acoustic environment, time delay values and ...

Influence of sound source width on human sound localization
2012 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2012Free-field sound localization experiments generally assume that a loudspeaker can be approximated by a point-source; however, a large loudspeaker may extend beyond the width that two sources can be discriminated. Humans can accurately discriminate sound source locations within a few degrees, thus one might expect localization precision to decrease as a

Real-time sound source localization
2012 13th International Radar Symposium, 2012This paper deals speaker localization using received acoustic signals on microphone array. The real time localization system is based on method for a speaker speech processing and extraction of sibilant sequence. It is shown, that this method leads to good position estimation accuracy in indoor systems.

Automatic sound source localization has recently gained interest due to its various applications that range from surveillance to hearing aids, and teleconferencing to human computer interaction. Automatic sound source localization may refer to the process of determining only the direction of a sound source, which is known as the direction-of-arrival ...

Dynamic theory of sound-source localization
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974Under idealizations about the nature of the path taken by sounds to each of a listener's two ears, and the shape of the listener's head, it is shown that both the azimuth and the range of a sound source can be expressed in terms of the rate at which certain sound stimulus parameters change when sound-source azimuth varies.
