Auditory–Tactile Congruence for Synthesis of Adaptive Pain Expressions in RoboPatients

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this work, we explore auditory–tactile congruence for synthesizing adaptive vocal pain expressions in robopatients. Using a robopatient platform that integrates vocal pain sounds with palpation forces, we conducted 7680 trials across 20 participants.

Multimodal Human–Robot Interaction Using Human Pose Estimation and Local Large Language Models

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimodal human–robot interaction framework integrates human pose estimation (HPE) and a large language model (LLM) for gesture‐ and voice‐based robot control. Speech‐to‐text (STT) enables voice command interpretation, while a safety‐aware arbitration mechanism prioritizes gesture input for rapid intervention.

Sound Speed and Virtual Source Correction in Synthetic Transmit Focusing

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control
In beamforming, retrospective change in sound speed and recalculation of focusing delays is attractive both for improving image quality and for using it in an iterative image quality optimization process.

Cross‐Scale Hierarchical Targeted Delivery System Based on Small‐Scale Magnetic Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article reviews a cross‐scale hierarchical targeted delivery system that integrates magnetic continuum robots and magnetic microrobots. By combining rapid long‐range navigation with precise microscale targeting, the system overcomes key limitations of single‐scale approaches.

Development of Measurement Facility for Sound Speed of Hydrogen with a Spherical Acoustic Resonator ~Theory of Measurement and Calibration for [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Thermophysical properties of hydrogen are needed to design equipments associated with hydrogen. The speed of sound is one of thermophysical properties itself and includes the important information of thermophysical properties, such as specific heat at ...

Reconstructing multiple initial pressure and speed of sound distributions simultaneously in photoacoustic tomography

open access: yesPhotoacoustics
Image reconstruction in photoacoustic tomography relies on an accurate knowledge of the speed of sound in the target. However, the speed of sound distribution is not generally known, which may result in artefacts in the reconstructed distribution of ...

MicroRoboScope: A Portable and Integrated Mechatronic Platform for Magnetic and Acoustic Microrobotic Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents the MicroRoboScope, a highly integrated, compact, and portable microrobotic experimentation platform combining electromagnetic and acoustic actuation with real‐time visual feedback into a single, end‐to‐end device. The system enables closed‐loop control and tracking algorithm experimentation within an accessible and unified hardware ...

Sound speed in pulmonary parenchyma

open access: yes, 1983
The time it takes audible sound waves to travel across a lobe of excised horse lung was measured. Sound speed, which is the slope in the relationship between transit time and distance across the lobe, was estimated by linear regression analysis.

Potential Improvements for Underwater Sound Speed Measurement Devices

open access: yes, 2021
Modern sonar systems rely on fast and accurate measurements of the speed of sound in water. Plenty of measurement devices currently exist which are used to gather sound speed measurements in water.
