Experimental study to measure the sound transmission loss of natural fibers at tonal excitations

, 2020
In this paper, the acoustical sound absorbing property such as Insertion Loss (IL) or sound transmission loss (STL) of natural fibers is measured experimentally.

A study on the sound transmission loss of a new lightweight hemp/bio-epoxy sandwich structure

, 2020
Due to the increasing awareness around the environmental crisis and the depletion of petroleum resources, together with the inherent issues connected with the use of composite systems such as their disposal and recycling and the health problems ...

Sound transmission loss behavior of sandwich panel with different truss cores under external mean airflow

Aerospace Science and Technology, 2019
This paper presents an analytical study on the sound transmission loss characteristics of sandwich plate with different truss cores under external mean airflow. Three types of truss cores are considered, which include pyramidal core, tetrahedral core and

Improvement on sound transmission loss through a double-plate structure by using electromagnetic shunt damper

, 2020
It is well-known that the acoustic sound performance of double-plate structures deteriorates rapidly around the mass-air-mass resonance frequency. In this study, a electromagnetic shunt damper (EMSD) connected between incident and radiating plate is used

An indirect hybrid sound transmission loss controller

Applied Acoustics, 2012
Abstract The control of sound transmission through panels is an important noise control problem in the aerospace, aeronautical, and automotive industries. The trend towards using lightweight composite materials that have lower sound insulation performance is a negative factor regarding low frequency transmission loss. Double-panel partitions with the

An improved approach for normal-incidence sound transmission loss measurement using a four-microphone impedance tube

, 2020
The main aim of this study is to introduce an improved method for determining the sound properties of acoustic materials which is more precise than the common wavefield decomposition method and simpler than the common transfer matrix method. In the first

Effects of mounting positions and boundary conditions on the sound transmission loss of panels in a niche

, 2020
The sound insulation performance of railway car body structures is critical for the control of rail vehicle interior noise. In sound transmission loss (STL) measurements, a niche with a large depth is necessary to allow for mounting the wide range of ...

Estimation of random incidence sound transmission loss of panels based on normal incidence sound transmission loss measurements

INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings
The performance of building sound insulation is an important parameter for evaluating the quality of construction projects. So far, the sound insulation performance testing of building walls requires the installation of large-dimensioned wall samples in specialized sound insulation laboratories, which is time-consuming and costly. If small-dimensioned

Selective conditioning for the measurement of sound transmission loss

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1991
Abstract Multiple input modelling techniques have been applied to the measurement of sound pressure and intensity in transmission loss problems. Results indicate that the power radiated by a partition or facade can be meaningfully estimated in the presence of substantial (10–25 dB) background noise levels relative to a primary, multi-sine, excitation.
