A finite element approach to the prediction of sound transmission through panels with acoustic resonators [PDF]
Previous research by the authors has shown that sound radiated by a vibrating panel can be reduced considerably by using tuned acoustic resonators. The length of the tube resonators determines the frequency range in which sound is reduced.

A two‐phase workflow (OFAT screening followed by central composite design) maps how processing variables tune PFCE‐PLGA nanoparticle size, dispersity, surface charge, loading, and 19F‐MRI signal. In situ, time‐resolved synchrotron SAXS tracks albumin‐corona growth on intact dispersions and reveals PFCE‐dependent adsorption pathways.

An investigation into sound transmission loss by polypropylene needle-punched nonwovens
In this work, the effects of variables such as initial carded web mass, needle penetration depth, punch density, and the frequency of incident sound wave on transmission of sound through polypropylene needle-punched nonwovens were investigated.

Numerical Design of Sound-Insulating Material with Combined Cavities of Mixed Sizes
In view of the low-frequency acoustic insulation performance and poor pressure resistance of a single cavity at present, finite element software COMSOL is used to establish an analysis model to calculate the sound transmission loss (TL) and compression ...

Analytic mode matching for a circular dissipative silencer containing mean flow and a perforated pipe [PDF]
An analytic mode matching scheme that includes higher order modes is developed for a straight-through circular dissipative silencer. Uniform mean flow is added to the central airway and a concentric perforated screen separates the mean flow from a bulk ...

Experimental study on sound transmission loss of plenum windows [PDF]
To investigate the noise reduction mechanism of plenum windows, the paper experimentally studied the influence of the air-gap spacing between two glass panes, the panel thickness, and the opening size on the sound transmission loss (TL). The results show that when the half wavelength of impinged sound is smaller than the air-gap spacing, the TL can be ...

This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...
