Differential seedling survival of early‐planted, late‐successional trees: Results from three forest restoration experiments

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 1, January–March 2026.
Successful forest restoration starts early: Across three restored sites, late‐successional trees (n = 1840) established well when planted at the same time as pioneers. A 2‐m spacing maximized survival, revealing facilitation–competition trade‐offs, with outcomes also shaped by species identity and microhabitat.

Siloxane‐Functionalized Silicon Phthalocyanine OTFTs: High Hole Mobility and Unexpected p‐Type Character

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 6, 19 January 2026.
In this paper, the first use of a siloxane‐substituted silicon phthalocyanine (iso(Si3O)2SiPc) in OTFTs is reported. Moreover, this compound displays the highest hole mobility (exceeding 1 cm2 V−1 s−1) ever recorded for SiPc, and the GIWAXS study reveals thin films with an exceptionally uniform crystalline texture.

Patient Roles and Patient Knowledge in Learning Health Systems

open access: yesThe International Journal of Health Planning and Management, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 253-258, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Learning health systems collect and analyse data on an ongoing basis to make real‐time, evidence‐informed decisions. Patient involvement is central to learning health systems. In this perspective paper, we describe implications that LHSs' distinguishing features have for patient involvement.

Broad‐Based Categorical Eligibility Policy and SNAP Participation

open access: yesJournal of Policy Analysis and Management, Volume 45, Issue 1, Winter 2026.
ABSTRACT The broad‐based categorical eligibility (BBCE) policy allows states to bypass federal gross income and asset tests for supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) eligibility. Policymakers often propose limiting BBCE's scope or eliminating it altogether.

Pre‐natal nutrition as risk factor for painful temporomandibular disorders and headaches in young adults

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, Volume 66, Issue 1, Page 29-39, January 2026.
Abstract Objective To investigate the relationship between prenatal nutrition and the development of painful temporomandibular disorders (p‐TMD) and headaches in offspring during young adulthood. Background p‐TMD are a common source of chronic orofacial pain and are often comorbid with headaches.

PP2A methylesterase, PME‐1, and PP2A methyltransferase, LCMT‐1, control sensitivity to impairments caused by injury‐related oligomeric tau

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Oligomeric species of tau are a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Given the evidence implicating protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) in the molecular pathogenesis of tauopathies, we sought to determine whether manipulating the expression of enzymes that regulate PP2A activity, such as leucine carboxyl methyltransferase 1 (LCMT‐1 ...

Fine Characterization of the Contact Zones of Mazzaella laminarioides in the Southeastern Pacific Using Mitochondrial and Nuclear Markers

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study investigates the genetic structure of Mazzaella laminarioides, an ecologically and economically important species from the rocky coast of Chile. Using more accurate sampling and a set of microsatellite, nuclear, and mitochondrial markers, we were able to identify with high resolution the contact zones between the previously described ...

Tuning the Air Stability of N‐Type Semiconductors via Poly(2‐vinylpyridine): The Importance of Humidity and Molecular Weight

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 5, Issue 12, December 2025.
Blending the n‐type polymer P(NDI2OD‐T2) with hygroscopic poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (P2VP) improves device stability by limiting oxygen diffusion. Higher molecular weight P2VP forms larger domains that absorb moisture, reduce free volume for oxygen, and partition oxygen away from semiconductor crystallites.

Long lived surface plasmons on the interface of a metal and a photonic time‐crystal

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 14, Issue 23, Page 4063-4068, 02 November 2025.
Abstract We predict the existence of surface plasmon polaritons at the interface between a metal and a periodically modulated dielectric medium, and find an unusual multi‐branched dispersion curve of surface and bulk modes. The branches are separated by momentum gaps indicating intense amplification of modes, and display high and low group velocity ...
