Identifiability and transportability in dynamic causal networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we propose a causal analog to the purely observational Dynamic Bayesian Networks, which we call Dynamic Causal Networks. We provide a sound and complete algorithm for identification of Dynamic Causal Networks, namely, for computing the ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

An Innovative Model-Based Methodology for Rapid Response to Drinking Water Contamination Events

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
In a desktop exercise, a water utility’s emergency response to suspected wastewater contamination in a drinking water network was compared with a model-based approach using PathoINVEST.

On Reduced Input-Output Dynamic Mode Decomposition

open access: yes, 2017
The identification of reduced-order models from high-dimensional data is a challenging task, and even more so if the identified system should not only be suitable for a certain data set, but generally approximate the input-output behavior of the data ...

Real time plasma equilibrium reconstruction in a Tokamak [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The problem of equilibrium of a plasma in a Tokamak is a free boundary problemdescribed by the Grad-Shafranov equation in axisymmetric configurations. The right hand side of this equation is a non linear source, which represents the toroidal component of

Developmental Disorders in Children Recently Diagnosed With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neurocognitive deficits in adult survivors of childhood cancer are well established, but less is known about developmental disorders (DD) arising shortly after cancer diagnosis. Using 2016–2019 linked Ohio cancer registry and Medicaid data, we compared DD among 324 children with cancer and 606,913 cancer‐free controls.

Auditory time-interval perception as causal inference on sound sources

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2012
Perception of a temporal pattern in a sub-second time scale is fundamental to conversation, music perception, and other kinds of sound communication. However, its mechanism is not fully understood. A simple example is hearing three successive sounds with

Exercise Interventions in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults With Paediatric Bone Tumours—A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bone tumours present significant challenges for affected patients, as multimodal therapy often leads to prolonged physical limitations. This is particularly critical during childhood and adolescence, as it can negatively impact physiological development and psychosocial resilience.

Optimal Jet Finder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We describe a FORTRAN 77 implementation of the optimal jet definition for identification of jets in hadronic final states of particle collisions. We discuss details of the implementation, explain interface subroutines and provide a usage example.

A Comparative Study of Cerebral Oxygenation During Exercise in Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild
