The ISC Bulletin as a comprehensive source of earthquake source mechanisms [PDF]
Abstract. In this article we summarize the availability of earthquake source mechanisms in the Bulletin of the International Seismological Centre (ISC). The bulletin in its current status contains ∼81 000 seismic events with only one associated mechanism solution and ∼25 000 events with at least two associated source mechanisms.

Contracting Mechanisms for Stable Sourcing Networks [PDF]
Problem definition: We study profit allocation for a sourcing network, in which a buyer sources from a set of differentiated suppliers with limited capacity under uncertain demand for the final product. Whereas the buyer takes the lead in forming the sourcing network and designing the contract mechanism, due to their substantial bargaining power, the ...

Source mechanisms of volcanic tsunamis [PDF]
Volcanic tsunamis are generated by a variety of mechanisms, including volcano-tectonic earthquakes, slope instabilities, pyroclastic flows, underwater explosions, shock waves and caldera collapse. In this review, we focus on the lessons that can be learnt from past events and address the influence of parameters such as volume flux of mass flows ...

Mitochondria as a source of mechanical signals in cardiomyocytes [PDF]
The myofibrillar and nuclear compartments in cardiomyocytes are known to be sensitive to extracellular mechanical stimuli. Recently, we have shown that alterations in the mitochondrial ionic balance in cells in situ are associated with considerably increased mitochondrial volume.

Horizon quantum mechanics for spheroidal sources [PDF]
We start investigating the extension of the Horizon Quantum Mechanics to the case of spheroidal sources. We first study the location of trapping surfaces in space-times resulting from an axial deformation of static isotropic systems, and show that the Misner-Sharp mass evaluated on the corresponding undeformed spherically symmetric space provides the ...

The past 2 decades have seen substantial progress in our understanding of the nature of the earthquake faulting process, but increasingly, the subject has become an interdisciplinary one. Thus, although the observation of radiated seismic waves remains the primary tool for studying earthquakes (and has been increasingly focused on extracting the ...

Rapporteur's report: sources and interaction mechanisms
This, the first session of the Workshop, focussed on sources of exposure to and interaction mechanisms of intense static magnetic fields. The four presentations dealt with (1) the magnetic fields produced by diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging systems; (2) the ways in which static magnetic fields can interact with matter, in particular human tissue; (

Fracture Mechanics and Earthquake Source Mechanisms Conference
The Geological Society of America will sponsor a Penrose Conference on Fracture Mechanics and Earthquake Source Mechanisms on September 27 through 30, 1971, at the Snowmass Mountain Chalet, Snowmass‐at‐Aspen, Colorado. The purpose of the conference is to bring together experts in the fields of rock mechanics and earthquake source mechanisms in order to
