Equivariant adaptive source separation
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1996Source separation consists of recovering a set of independent signals when only mixtures with unknown coefficients are observed. This paper introduces a class of adaptive algorithms for source separation that implements an adaptive version of equivariant estimation and is henceforth called equivariant adaptive separation via independence (EASI).

A New Concept for Separability Problems in Blind Source Separation
Neural Computation, 2004The goal of blind source separation (BSS) lies in recovering the original independent sources of a mixed random vector without knowing the mixing structure. A key ingredient for performing BSS successfully is to know the indeterminacies of the problem—that is, to know how the separating model relates to the original mixing model (separability).

Compressive blind source separation
2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2010The central goal of compressive sensing is to reconstruct a signal that is sparse or compressible in some basis using very few measurements. However reconstruction is often not the ultimate goal and it is of considerable interest to be able to deduce attributes of the signal from the measurements without explicitly reconstructing the full signal.

Probabilistic Optimization for Source Separation
2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2020We present a novel probabilistic Zeroth-Order optimization method, which can handle higher dimensions, and can also be used for fast online optimization, for instance for multichannel source separation. We compared it to the Gradientless Descent (GLD) algorithm on a multichannel source separation task, and found that our method results in faster and ...

Separation of sources of neuromagnetic examinations
Physiological Measurement, 1993Phantom experiments and computer simulations in combination with the Wiener-Helstrom filter reconstruction technique demonstrate the ability of the improvement of source separation in distributed current arrangements. A spatial region of interest (ROI), in which the current distribution is expected, is defined and discretized into three-dimensional ...

Blind source separation for BLAST
2002 14th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing Proceedings. DSP 2002 (Cat. No.02TH8628), 2003We present a new blind source separation (BSS) approach for Bell Labs layered space-time (BLAST) communication system. The proposed algorithm is derived from the multimodulus algorithm (MMA) and employs the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure. The basic idea is to adjust the real and imaginary parts of the equalizer matrix separately and then ...

Sixth International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications, 2006
The paper presented a new signal processing technique to accomplish blind source separation when given only a single-channel mixture signal. One signal source can be generated by a set of weighted linear superposition of the time domain sub-band functions with independent component characteristic.

Superefficiency in blind source separation
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1999Summary: Blind source separation is the problem of extracting independent signals from their mixtures without knowing the mixing coefficients nor the probability distributions of source signals and may be applied to EEG and MEG imaging of the brain. It is already known that certain algorithms work well for the extraction of independent components.

Performance analysis of source separation based on blind source separation
IET International Radar Conference 2015, 2015Source separation plays an important role in array signal processing applications, such as anti-jamming, multisignal detection, etc. The performance of source separation need to be analyzed, which can also be indicated by the array performance index, output signal-interference-noise-ratio (SINR) and beam pattern.

Complex Blind Source Separation
Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processing, 2017Blind source separation (BSS) techniques aim at recovering the original source signals from observed mixtures without a priori information. The bivariate empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) algorithm combined with complex independent component analysis by entropy bound minimization (ICA-EBM) technique is proposed as an alternative to separate ...
