Digitaria insularis (sourgrass).

PlantwisePlus Knowledge Bank, 2022
D. insularis is an aggressive perennial grass causing major weed problems in its native area, especially in Brazil, Paraquay and Bolivia. It was classed as a principal weed in Venezuela by Holm et al. (1979).

Spread of glyphosate‐resistant sourgrass (Digitaria insularis): Independent selections or merely propagule dissemination?

Weed Biology and Management, 2018
The first reports of glyphosate‐resistant (GR) sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) came from Paraguay (2005) and from South and Southeast Brazil, in Paraná (2008), and São Paulo state (2009). The hypothesis of this research is that the evolution of these resistant populations might have occurred independently.

Crop and stubble effects on seedling emergence of sourgrass, palmer amaranth, wild radish and fleabane

Crop and Pasture Science, 2021
. Crop diversity, crop structures and crop residue can modify the seed-bank environment, influencing the seedling emergence of some weeds. The objectives of this work were to analyse (1) the effect of winter crop canopies of canola and wheat and soybean ...

Inhibition of O-acetylserine (thiol) lyase by S-benzyl-L-cysteine: Differential effects on sulfate assimilation and photosynthesis in maize (Zea mays) and sourgrass (Digitaria insularis).

Plant physiology and biochemistry : PPB
The sulfate assimilation pathway is essential for plant metabolism and represents a promising herbicide target. O-Acetylserine (thiol) lyase, the final enzyme in this pathway, plays a key regulatory role.

Biology of Sourgrass and Its Competition with Buffelgrass and Guineagrass

Weed Science, 1977
Establishment and early growth characteristics were defined for sourgrass [Trichachne insularis(L.) Nees], one of the most serious pasture weeds in Hawaii. Optimum germination of sourgrass seeds was obtained in the light at 30 C or with alternating temperatures of 20 and 30 C or 25 and 35 C.

Detection of Sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) Biotypes Resistant to Glyphosate in Brazil

Weed Science, 2011
Sourgrass is a perennial weed infesting annual and perennial crops in Brazil. Three biotypes (R1, R2, and R3) of sourgrass suspected to be glyphosate-resistant (R) and another one (S) from a natural area without glyphosate application, in Brazil, were tested for resistance to glyphosate based on screening, dose-response, and shikimic acid assays.
