Preliminary 2013 South Coast rock lobster assessment updates.
Following recommendations made during the NOV 2012 International Workshop held at UCT (see Appendix for Workshop Panel recommendations for South Coast rock lobster taken from MARAM IWS/NOV12/REP/1), certain recommendations to the PRELIMINARY SCRL assessment base case (BC) model presented here in this document.

South Coast Rock Lobster TAC for the 2016/17 season
Application of OMP-2014 results in a TAC recommendation of 331 MT for the 2016/17 season (which reflects a 3% decrease from the 2015/16 TAC). Exceptional Circumstances are considered not to apply. OMP-2014 was developed in 2014 to be used to set the TAC for South Coast Rock Lobster for the 2014-2017 seasons.

Updating and modifying the 2020 South Coast Rock Lobster assessment
A proposed new 2020 assessment approach (which takes account of updated data) seems to be able to side-step the previous conflict between the CPUE and CAL data (with regard to current abundance estimates) and allows for sensible estimation of the λ parameters that allocate recruitment amongst sub-areas).

The South Coast Rock Lobster Reference Case Operating Model
This document details the assessment method used to provide the Reference Case Operating Model used in 2013 for simulation testing of the current South Coast rock lobster OMP (OMP-2014). That model was fit to data to 2010; those data series are also reported, together with their subsequent extensions to 2015.
