Southern Alps in Italy: Venetian Pre-Alps
2008The Palaeogene of the Southern Alpine area of NW Italy encompasses parts of the Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto Regions. At the beginning of the Cenozoic, this area was subdivided into two basins which are roughly separated by the present-day north–south alignment of the Brenta River.

Ozone assessment in the southern part of the Alps
Atmospheric Environment, 1998In this paper ozone measurements carried out at six alpine and prealpine sites, located in the Italian region of Central Alps are shown. The stations are placed at altitudes between 800 and 1900 m a.s.l., far away from local sources of pollution. Ozone concentrations appear to be quite uniform, with summer mean values varying from 40 to 47 ppb and ...

Local winds in the southern alps, new zealand
Journal of Climatology, 1985AbstractA study is made of local wind development in New Zealand alpine valleys. The general characteristics of alpine airflow regimes are examined using both climato logical and case study approaches. Thermo topographic and dynamic effects are the major influences on valley airflow, the relative significance of each varying spatially as well as ...

Vegetalisation of badlands in southern Alps

Holocene soil chronofunctions, Southern Alps, New Zealand
Geoderma, 1984Abstract Field and laboratory data for two soil chronosequences from the high country of the South Island of New Zealand suggest rapid soil formation rates. The areas studied are the Ben Ohau Range and the Mt. Cook area, where mean annual precipitation is about 1 and 4 m, respectively.

Geomorphology of the Central Southern Alps
1997The geomorphology of the centraI sector of the Italian Alps has many interesting aspects. Some of these are: the relationship between the morphology of the territory and the geological structure; the morphology modelled by glaciers; the morphological evidences of neo-tectonics and the great landslides, which are typical of an alpine environment.

Thermal history of the Carnic Alps (Southern Alps, Austria) and its palaeogeographic implications
Tectonophysics, 1997Abstract The thermal history of the Carnic Alps (Southern Alps, Austria) has been investigated by means of organic petrology, clay mineralogy and microthermometry. In the tectonic framework of the Carnic Alps the metamorphic overprint from the lower anchizone up to the epizone is exposed in a continuous NS-trending metamorphic section.

'Black' soils in the southern Alps
Many soils in southern Switzerland have a black color, contain a large amount of soil organic matter (SOM) and seem to have some andic properties although they did not develop on volcanic parent material. We investigated three typical 'black' soils to determine the mechanisms of (clay) mineral formation and transformation.Zanelli, R. +5 more

Erosion of badlands in Southern Alps: synthesis
1994Erosion control is an important concern both in France and around the world. Nervertheless, quantitative knowledge relative to the different processes working within the catchments and to control efficiency is not sufficient. Within Draix experimental catchments (Alpes de Haute-Provence) rainfall, discharge and erosion measurements are carried out ...
