AbstractOcean general circulation models even with realistic behavior still incorporate large uncertainties from external forcing. This study involves the realization of ensemble experiments using a regional model configured for the Southwest Atlantic Ocean to investigate uncertainties derived from the external forcing such as the atmosphere and ...

Mercury transfer in coastal and oceanic food webs from the Southwest Atlantic Ocean
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2022The dynamics of contaminants, such as mercury (Hg), in marine trophic webs is a critical topic in the scientific community due to the high concentrations encountered in organisms. In this study we attempted to provide information on total Hg accumulation patterns and possible pathways of trophic transfers assessed in combination with δ13C and δ15N to ...

Bioaccumulation of heavy metals in estuaries in the southwest Atlantic Ocean
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022The southwestern Atlantic Ocean is home to highly productive regions, composed of a mosaic of both protected and anthropogenically impacted areas, including the estuaries of Paranaguá, Cananéia, and Santos. In this study, concentrations of metals were measured in sediments and in marine organisms, collected from these three Brazilian estuaries.

Mercury in trophic webs of estuaries in the southwest Atlantic Ocean
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2021Anthropogenic activities have impacted the coastal region of Brazil. In the Paranaguá estuarine complex (PEC), Cananéia-Iguape estuarine-lagoon complex (CIELC), and Santos-São Vicente estuarine complex (SSVEC), such activities occur across differing scales.
