Mapping goliath grouper aggregations in the southwestern Atlantic [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oceanography, 2016
(Lichtenstein, 1822), is the largest reef fish in the western Atlantic Ocean, reaching up to 2.5 meters long and > 400 kg (BULLOCK et al., 1992). The species matures at 5-8 years with a maximum age of 37 years (BULLOCK et al., 1992). Some characteristics of goliath grouper that make them particularly vulnerable to overfishing include their large body ...

A new species of Lonchidiidae (Hybodontiformes) from the Late Jurassic of Brazil (Aliança Formation, Jatobá Basin)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Aliança Formation (Jatobá Basin) represents lacustrine deposits formed in oxygenated waters that hosted a diverse fauna, including Hybodontiform sharks. Within this group, the Family Lonchidiidae comprises 11 valid genera, with Parvodus previously reported in Brazilian deposits from the Brejo Santo Formation (Araripe Basin, Late Jurassic ...

Mid- to late-Holocene analysis of the influence of the La Plata River plume on the southwestern Atlantic shelf: A paleoenvironmental reconstruction based on lipid biomarkers and benthic foraminifera [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The coupled results of sedimentological, molecular, and microfossil proxies were used to determine the paleoclimatic and paleoceanographic variations as well as identify the sediment transport pathways along the last c.a.

Peroxodisulfate‐Enhanced Leaching of Deep‐Sea Manganese Crusts and Sulfides

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Ammonium peroxodisulfate enables efficient leaching of deep‐sea manganese crusts and massive sulfides while offering electrolytic recycling. High leaching yields for V, Mn, Co, Mo, Sn, and W, along with complete leaching of As and Sb, highlight its potential as a powerful and sustainable oxidant for marine resource processing.
